Just wondered what you guys on here use?

Since I got the laptop couple of months ago I have just used the balanced mode.

Games like Footie manger and even Crysis ran fine.

However I have had Empire Total war slow and crash a couple of times now, on balanced.

I should be able to play the game No Prob ,, as Im well within game spec. I probably should also mention it has only done it when I have had the game running for several Hours ( although the GFX GPU temps appeared Norm?),, in fact Im guilty of just closing the lid when not playing ,, so technically the game had been running all day when it slowed to a crawl and died.

But just wondered if you all , use the High performance mode for Gaming,,,and is there much to be gained ??

    Sytem spec

    Alienware M15x
    i7 740Q Processor
    Nvidia 1.5Gb 440M GPU
    4 GB RAM
    500GB HD
Not using any Over Clock software (yet)

I only use balanced and have had no problems with any games. Using high performance mode is like having your car in constant rev while stationary.

I use this software called Game Booster, made a profile called "Gaming Power Plan" or something along those lines. It also defrags RAM and stops unnecessary services for optimum gameplay.

So basically, I use the power plan made from this software.

I usually have it on all the time, I just switch to power saver when I'm on battery.

Should I try using balanced? I OC my graphics card, and I was worried there may be some sort of conflict if it wasn't on high performance. I just don't want anything on here underperforming :p

I dont think it will make any difference. I have always used balanced mode.

My 3Dmark11 score is the first link in my sig. That 3Dmark11 run was without an overclock and the computer was in balanced mode. My score turned out to be very normal, so I highly doubt that high performance mode is any different from balanced.
