So I dropped my m15x from about 3 ft above the ground onto a rug which is on hardwood floor. It landed with the main portion and the screen at a 90 degree angle upside down onto the floor like a tent. When I picked it up the left side of the palm rest had popped out and about 5 secs after I picked it up the screen went blue with some text on it and shut down. Was able to turn it on but it won't boot up past the alienware logo and makes a faint single beep over and over again. It appears to be frozen and will not respond to any key being pressed. I'm unsure as to what could be damaged. So any amount of help would be appreciated.

Is the hard disk still spinning? If there's been a head crash, the BIOS might get stuck when it tries to read the hard disk.

The first thing you should do is take it apart (if you have the experience) and reseat everything (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc...), something may have come loose somewhere. How is the computer configured (video card, cpu, etc...)?

According to our beep code table, 1 beep means possible motherboard failure.

I'd start with a power drain (Remove the battery and AC adapter, press and hold the power button 10-15 seconds).

Also, as thehunterooo says, next step would be reseating components. I'll leave you our M15x Teardown video just in case.

    GL!

So I've taken it apart and reseated everything and the same problem occurs. Would it be safe to assume the motherboard is dead?

Are you able to access the BIOS? If so, that's a good sign
    Did you run internal diagnostics?
Did you try starting it up without a hard drive or with another hard drive to see if it still beeps in case the hard drive crashed (literally).

Ok so I turned it on without the hard drive and all 3 of the leds are flashing which indicates a bad motherboard. Is the only option now to replace the motherboard?
