Does anyone know of a way to run two physically external monitors (without the laptop screen) from the m15x? I'm trying to get a landscape setup (so not the same picture on both screens).

I'm guessing one VGA out and one DVI to HDMI adpter to the Display Port adapter?

Or is there a Display Port adapter that has two HDMI ports. Or maybe an HDMI splitter?

    Thanks ahead of time.

you would have to uses something like this you can run two screens with the DP and the VGA but the laptop screen will turn off.

I think there was some discussion about using an active display port or somthing but i cant remember and from what i remember it didnt work.

Edit: sorry brain fart read 'with laptop screen' not with out sorry

You do have to use DP + VGA, that's the only way it works and how my system is setup at home. The notebook sits in a dock almost closed and powers two 24" panels. Make sure not to close it all the way, you can melt the internal screen.

Just plug them in and close the lid before it boots into the OS. It should boot to both screens.

I just saw that the new HP envy's can run 3 screens + the internal with eyefinity. That's pretty wild.

And that shows up as two separate screens and not a mirror image correct?
Damn that is pretty wild! Too bad I had a bad experience with HP and won't be going back.

It might be in clone mode the first time, just change it in the resolution settings. Windows remembers per display settings. At home I have two 24" externals, at work I use the internal display + a 17" external.

Melt the internal screen? How does that happen?

The heat rises through the keyboard and has nowhere to go if it's closed. You should never run a high-end notebook closed.
