    Hi all,

i have posted a query on the main page of the forum by mistake and id like it to remain separate as it is a query on Pinch to zoom.

This however is a guide to enable Multi Touch on the stock Dell drivers.

    1. open regedit and direct yourself to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPCpl\Controls

    2. Find and expand 2Scrolling and highlight 2Two-fingerscrolling

    3. Find the Key named Visibility and rename with a ? mark at the end (no reason for it to be a ?mark can delete or rename to something else)

    4. Look down to 8Application Guestures and do the same for three finger flick / three finger down / three cover Guesture.

5 Rename them in the same manner as scrolling and your away.

Wish i could take credit but yuyue on the M17X forum found the reg's

Hope this is helpful and im not repeating something that has been done before.

    Craig

until the polling rate gets fixed, i can't try the drivers... it makes me a sad panda.

    good find though.

a little off topic, but have you tried synaptics scrybe? it has a lot of the features you're trying to enable and more as options in the gui. i think it's still in some beta phase but it might be worth checking out.

This actually works? For instance, after enabling it inside the registry if you fire up Firefox you can scroll with two fingers? I wonder why wasn't this wasn't enabled by default?

That is one thing I've always loved about Mac laptops. They have really, really great multi-touch support.

Just need to check the boxes in the synaptics settings and your away. The gestures aren't as good as a mac but the scrolling is good.

Great find... works great, just wish there was two-finger right-click.

Nevermind. I was using the original driver that was installed on my machine when I bought it in December. I had never updated to the driver released in June. The options are there in the old driver but does not work. You have to use the driver released in June.

Not trying to spam this thread but I noticed that the touchpad is better using this driver. The polling rate problem is not that bad.

    Works great on my M15x!

I just did what you told inside:

    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPCpl\Controls\2Scrolling\2Two-Finger Scrolling]
    "[B]!Visibility[/B]"=dword:00000008

I just add a ! at the begining of the key name.

Was it really necessary to bump a 4 month old topic?

Make sure after altering the registry that you go into synaptics settings and there should be a new option for two finger scrolling ect.

Do you have this driver installed?

    Drivers and Downloads

After installing that driver, you should do the Registry edit.
