I was having some major issue with my system and was loaded with lots of old software, so I decided to do a restore it to factory image, but for some unknown reason the restore drive did not contain the files needed to restore to factory image.

So I had to try the alternative, which is to do a clean installation using the disc provided by dell-alienware. Everything was fine, until I installed the drivers I downloaded from dell website. I restarted a few times, no problem.

Then I decided to create a system restore point, but no point was created, without any error shown, just a slight hang.

That was 2 days ago. Everything was fine then, but today the startup took more than 30minutes at the windows was starting page, similiar to before I reinstalled the OS, only it took way longer than before.

I tried restarting few times, uninstalling some recent installed software and drivers, did sfc /scannow and few checkup but it was the same.

Anyone have any idea what should I do?

Please help me, I am at a loss here

Edited: *Previously the slow startup was caused by driver not found which is shown at action center, but this time no error or missing driver notification at all

I came across the dell website as well, but I dont think I follow all of the installation sequence from here Alienware M15x: Initial Drivers Installation | Dell

What kind of checking for hdd? I am trying to run a chkdsk and using seatools provided by seagate to do the checking.

    Update

I call up dell since the computer went straight into startup repair and failed with the error 0x490
I ran the diagnosis during boot and get the first error code 2000-0146, second error BootMGR is missing.

Dell told me that my hard disc is failing with certain sector corrupt. Since my warranty has expired, I have to extend it USD320 for 1 year or USD400 for 2 year.
Which then they will provide a replacement of my HDD and my AC adapter along with technician to reinstall my computer.

Is it worth it? or should I fix it at other shop or any alternative?

    Please give me some advice

If you get the warranty you will be covered for a year on any of the components of the laptop, if you take it to a local store it will probably less money but if anything else fails then it will be more money spent. This is your personal decision but we always encourage customers to get the warranty because any single part on that laptop is more expensive than what the warranty is.
