    Hello everyone,

I recently purchased the Witcher 2 game from Gamestop and I am trying to install the game, but it continously fails. It gives an error message about not being able to read a certain file on the disk. I've searched aroud and some sites suggested that I update my video drivers (which I did) then try again, but that didnt work. Does anyone know of another possible solution to install this game from the disk? I called Gamestop and they recomended that I copy some of the files, but they did not clarify what that meant or how I would go about doing that.

My current graphics card is a GT 260m, which should run the game.

    Thanks

You can try to copy all files on the disk to a local disk first before installing

Thats what I am trying right now. The issue I seem to run into is that I cannot copy one particular file. I've searched around and it seems like our disk drive is "too good" for the file. Basically, the file has an unreadable sectoin and the disk drive rejects it because of that. I've emailed the publishers about it, but some people on their forums recommended using an older computer so I'll have to try that first.

Yeah, this problem seems to be a bit more wide spread than the publishers/developers would like to admit. They produced the media in such a way that random drives seem to have problems reading the DVD's. Copying all of the data to the PC and then running the install should make this work. If worst comes to worst, grab the ISO's off a torrent site and then when installing it, use your own CD key etc. I was forced to do this myself due to issues with the game DVD's not working correctly on my drives.

if you have access to another computer, u can try to see if you can copy all files from the disk to a flash drive or external HDD and then try to install them on ur computer.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Do you happen to know of a good place to torrent it from?

I sent an email th the game developers and explained the situation. They were very helpful andgave me a coupon for a digital download of the game. I downloaded it used my product code and its working perfectly. Thanks for all the help!
