It can't be good for any mechanical part to be running at 100% all the time...unless that was a sarcastic message.

^same exact temps i get, i think there is something wrong with the sensors... because if it was that hot truthfully i think something would be going wrong, and ive been playing for hrs... im about to try this 460m im getting just to confirm, but ive tried almost everything from the heatsink mod (where you make the fitmen tighter) to just repasting like 100 times so... im pretty sure its something to do with the mobo reading the temps

There's something else wrong if you're getting the same exact temperature readings.
Have you tried using another program to verify that those temps are correct?

The Cat 11.8 drivers are here. Previous ATI Catalyst? Display Drivers. Unified set that works with both desktop and mobile cards. However, I doubt the drivers are the cause of your high temps.

if ur having temp issues u shouldnt be ocing as high as i am, try controlling your temps first and sorting out your driver issue

See which Driver Version is reported by GPU-Z. It may be time to clean out all of the old driver remnants and do a clean install of whichever set you prefer.

Click on the Graphics Card tab and post a screenshot. That is what will identify the current driver.

Yep, I'm afraid things have gotten a little scrambled in the registry from all the driver switching. The 8.763.0 driver is very old; IIRC, it's the default driver used by Windows 7 when the installation process detects an ATI video card. The 11.10 driver is 8.901.0. This is not unusual, but it needs to be cleaned up, which means removing all accessible ATI files and registry entries and then installing new drivers. Do you know how to do that -- uninstalling ATI drivers/apps through Control Panel/Uninstall Program, Device Manager, Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode and CCleaner? Do you already have current versions of Driver Sweeper and CCleaner? If not, there's plenty of help available.

This needs to be done, but it's going to have little or no effect on your temperature issues.

just fyi i dont think dell is going to do anything... if you didnt get the card through them, and there shouldnt be anything wrong with the heatsink... its just a chunk of metal... the fan could be an issue but i know mine was scaling correctly so its not that, im thinking its jsut possibly bad contact, did u try a copper lapped shim yet? thats my next step besides me trying the 460 in the mail

hmm went to a 460... and my temps are 78 max on vantage... i think the problem is really contact since the die and hieght of die on the nvidia seem larger/taller... try a shim serioiusly tested with thinner pads, and it lowered temps by quite a lot, the max temp i ended up getting on that 460 was 85C im now getting around 67 C with .5mm pads fujipoly
