I have a M15x i7 that won't boot. It just flashes the Scroll, Num and Caps lock lights. While it was still working it would lock up and sometimes would not start and the lights would flash. After a few tries it would usually start up.

Does anyone have an idea of what would be wrong with it?

It's currently out of warranty but I can get it extended for $350. I'm debating if I should get the warranty or just order any replacement parts myself.

Sorry to reopen this old topic but what exactly does it mean when all the lights are flashing? The page works except for the images so it's impossible to tell what combination matches each error.

I have all the leds flashing (scroll, caps and num).

That means your motherboard is dead. Had the same problem with my m15x.

had that problem with my m15x, i just did a power drain and it fixed it.

remove the power cord, remove the battery, hold down the power button for 30 seconds.

also, the caps staying solid and other 2 are blinking is a dead mobo i think.

I'll try the power drain and else I'll call dell. The laptop is still under warranty.

If you're going through dell (warranty) to get it straightened out, I'm not sure they'll accept it with that 5870m card. Just wanted to give you a heads up. If I'm not mistaken you're gonna have to swap it out and put back a supported card (gtx 260m/460m, amd 5850m, gts 240m)for them to fix your machine under their warranty terms.

Hey guys! Sorry for reopening this, but I require some assistance.

I have the same flashing lights issue (all 3 are flashing). What should I do? I've tried the power drain... but still nothing :(
Should I replace the motherboard? If so, what model is it so I can order it and then pay someone to replace it for me?

    Thanks in advance :)
