Would someone please post thier Throttlestop settings, as I've clearly got mine way out..........

Every time I run an AV scan my laptop restarts after about 5 minutes.

Clearly my CPU is getting too hot and the reason for that is I've got something turned up too high.

    Here's what I've got:

    Core 1: 22
    Core 2: 22
    Core 3: 22
    Core 4: 22

    TDP: 85
    TDC: 85

    Clock Mod: 100%
    Chip Mod: 100%
    Set Multi: Turbo

    EIST: Ticked
    All Other Boxes: Unticked

Those settings should not be creating that kind of problem. I suspect a bad CPU fan or bad paste/heatsink contact. With the 6970m, I run the 920xm at stock settings, but with the 5850m, I often used 27-26-22-22 without issue.

Edit: Turns out that I lied. For reasons which now escape me, T-Stop was set on 25-24-22-22 and has probably been there for some time. But all without issue.

The Rev is right, you either have a fan problem or (more likely) need to reapply the thermal paste.
If the paste isn't applied well enough it may still work fine for standard settings, but as soon as you push the CPU with TS it's bound to overheat unless it's a perfect pasting.

By the way, no need to go crazy with the TDC. I had the TDC at 62 when I pushed my 920xm to 4 GHz and more on all threads...

Yea, your either overheating, or could be a voltage issue. But since you don't have the Multi set too high, my guess is heat. at 95*C The CPU will throttle, at 100*C it will shutdown.

As svl7 said, TDP is what will give you the extra wattage to achieve the higher multipliers. It's also what increases heat. Gotta find a good balance and have the heatsink properly adjusted for max surface area on the CPU die. This will maximize your heat transfer for lower temps.

EDIT: Was typing as you were, but glad you got it sorted. Now enjoy the chip, it's a beast. +1 for solving the issue.

@Jhonny can you locate where the clicking sound actually coming from? it might help to know where exactly is the clicking sound coming from.

@Mexic00ls so how do you set your throttlestop? do you keep it at stock or fiddle around with it. need your core settings and TDC number to compare.

Multiplier 15x is can considered not overclocking, hehehe,

btw it's funny if the cpu make clicking noise, since nothing on cpu is actually moving, are u sure the noise not come from the fan? or HDD?

Btw, about 920XM, mine is set on 27-25-24-24, and running well and cool for almost any task, except 3D software rendering, i push it down to 20-20-20-20 when do rendering job...

    OK....

I have been using throttle stop for a while, and always had the turbo option, now I do not it only shows 15x multiplier.. I re installed windows, well in reality someone stole my laptop which i got back as he was trying to sell it on craigslist...

But now I have my asus g73 which has 920XM in it, and I cant for the life of me figure out why im not getting the turbo option any longer?

    HELP!

Oh... and I tired other throttle stop versions, still nothing and turned it on etc. reboot ive done it all turbo option is lost, no idea.
