My Nvidia 9800m GT is done. Where can I get a replacement? Can I put a new better model in my 15x?

The m15x in this topic doesn't have a 9800m GT option, I guess that you need to search for an answer in this area: Alienware Area-51/Aurora and Legacy Systems.

PS. You can always try the backing trick to fix your current card temporary.

buying a new can be very expensive and may not be worth it, but check out the nbr market should have a few used cards that would work.

I agree with trying to bake it.

If it's out of warranty, it cannot hurt.

Baking it doesn't seem it be a permanent solution. You will have to keep doing over and over again. For the marketplace just go out to the main thread list and near the bottom is a link for it. Sorry I would link you but in my phone.

Ah I don't think your card will work in his system. Wrong connection type.

The video cards you can put in your laptop are:

    Nvidia: 8600m, 8700, 8800m, 9800m, 260m(will run hot), and 280(will overheat).

    ATi: HD 3870.

THey must be an MXM 2 card. Also there are other MXM cards that might work. Like the ATi HD 3650 or the Nvidia 9600m. Those cards are MXM 2, but no one has tried them in an m15x.

I just got done baking mine. Didn't help at all. Did 375o for 8 min...no change. Did 375o for 10 min...no change. Did 400o for 5 min...no change. Looks like I'm going for replacement cards.

I've been looking on eBAY and found a sight called SPLUSSTORE.COM offering refurbished boards. I don't think the prices are too far out of wack compared to some of the prices I've been quoted elsewhere.
