Guys I'm having some serious problems with this.
I've had the HD 5870 installed (and managed to get the ccc installed to, but I unistalled that to try again).
    1. Drivers do not install (quickly installs in 2 seconds and closes)
    2. Screen Resolution is all out of whack (max screen resolution right now shows as 1400 x 1050)
    3. Computer does not recognize the graphic card as 5870, but just a radeon card.
    Some help really appreciated!

DXDIAG shows this in display tab
    Name: Standard VGA graphics adapter
    Manufactor: (Standard display types)
    Chip type: ATI ATOMBIOS
    DAC Type: 8 bit
    approx total memory: n/a
    Current display mode: 1400 x 1050 (32bit)(1Hz)

Bios is A05, so that shouldn't be a problem, so please help with this!

I'm currently trying ATI Catalyst Install Manager, and it installs but at the end it says Installation Complete (warnings occured during installation). When I check the Log, the only thing it says is success in installation. But no luck after than in anything!

most of your concerns has been resolved in the other main thread of 5870m + M15x, just do inside thread search, or look thru it, you should be able to solve most of your problems! Good luck! 5870m rocks! :-D

    Here's the problem.. I did :O

Literally went through the whole thread reading to see what was what. Followed all the steps.. but the end result was back to square one. So I posted this thread just in case there was something different with my problem. And I'm freaking out since you only said 'most' of my problems are in the other thread :O

    1. Are you certain that the A05 BIOS is installed and active at boot?

    2. What Mobility driver(s) have you downloaded and tried to install?

    3. What driver are you using now?

If anyone needs to know for reference:

    1. Had to install his drivers manually using the "have disk" method. I used the 10.6 alpha drivers.

    2. CCC wouldn't install so I had to add it by installing each component of CCC manually. Those can be found in the apps directory for it.

His 5870m is up and running just fine now with CCC.

Yep indeed, thanks for all your help guys, espesh 5150Joker.
Took a good long 3 hours to do (that comprised with my fail Australian net), but I think we finally manage to overcome the Blue Screen of Death, registry errors, and overall retardnesses of this process not being easier.

I wish it was, I've noticed a few people having no problems with it once they installed, and other have had some. Hopefully it'll be the first option for most. Otherwise, I'll do a 3D vantage test once I get home, something in the process corrupted the files for the test, but regardless WEI rating looks marvelous as well (regardless of what people thing about WEI usefulness).

    Hey everyone,

I am having a same problem and none of these steps help me.. I tried all kinds of drivers, anything, and still, my max resolutions stays up to 1600x1400, while monitor supports 1920x1080. I may add that when i installed some drivers the resolution came up to 1920x1080, but it was kinda blurry and screen was like waving, which, i guess, happened because when i turn on 1920x1080 refresh rate comes down to 30hzI ir 30Ihz, smth like that..

Any ideas how can i fix this?
    Thanks in advance
