Has anyone managed to get the Witcher 3 to run on M15X?

    Here are my specs:
    i7 920XM
GTX 460M (Quadro 4000M was tested too)
    8GB RAM (DDR4 1333 Mhz)
SSD HD (Crucial something or other)

MSI afterburner is being used to OC the GPU and throttlestop is being used to effectively OC the CPU. Despite this, the game runs like molasses flowing uphill. Funny thing is, that during in-engine cutscenes, the game runs well at about 30FPS (all settings low), but one I regain control of Geralt, the game slows to crawl again.

    Any ideas?

I haven't played that game but your graphics card is pretty outdated so I'd say that's the culprit for the slowness. Have you tried lowering the gameplay resolution?

Yes sir. Game is set to lowest possible settings and I reduced the resolution as well and still get the same issue.
I know the card is old and I want to update it (bought a 765M from ebay but it got lost in the mail) but the cost is just too high for the kind of card I am looking for (GTX 680M) right now.

    Thanks

Consider the Firepro m6100, or the m6000 if you can't afford the more expensive m6100. The m6100 should be around the same performance as the 680M GTX and usually sells for cheaper. The m6000 can be overclocked to reach 765M GTX levels (at least in benchmarks) and can be had usually for around 70-80 USD.

Just be careful upon installation. Some have cracked their die using incorrect xbracket and or screws. Otherwise great suggestion by Kosti.

Another card to look out for is a 8970M or M290X. Better binned 7970M with 4GB vram. They can be had for 680M money and will perform better now simply because AMD drivers improve old hardware while nvidia drivers cripple old hardware. M290X can now catch a 780M.

LOL, I am one of those that cracked the dies on a couple of cards including a 7970M and my first m6000. :D

    Gentlemen, issue resolved!
I finally got my GTX 765M after it was lost in the mail for almost 2 months and now all is well. I thank you again for the help.

Great! I like your sig too. Too true M14x sucks well and truly. Not a single one can beat the 8 year old M15x!

The only good thing about my M14X is that A: it was free. And B: I was able to scavenge the faster RAM from it and install it on my M15X :D

Also, that OC record is dope AF! I OC'd mine to 3.3 and the cpu started hitting high 90's pretty fast. Mad props to you! :notworthy:

Temps are a problem indeed. At stock voltage some 920xms can reach 3.6-3.73ghz across 4 cores stable. It is a very hot chip!

I modded my machine heavily back then putting many vram heatsinks everywhere and using dual 45cfm fans stuck to the underside to cool things down.

The record was a bit of a fluke. I overvolted to +200mv. This is pretty crazy and very unstable. My chip already runs a high voltage at stock so the M15x mobo was pushed to absolute limits.

I did manage hower to clock 4.2 ghz all cores and play entire wolf new order with an overclocked 680M and dual psu's.

4.5ghz was not usable under any load I was just able to run that test to get proof of the overclock haha.

What we need is a 40w gpu in the M15x. Then bridge the heatsinks to improve thermal capacity and hardvolt mod the cpu to give us variable voltage control. +25, +50 etc wire modding only gives +200 which is too much. Then 4ghz would be a very stable overclock...
