Hello, I recently decided to replace my M15x gtx 260m video card with a gtx 460m that I got online used. I am running A09 bios, and I originally tried to use the most current 460m beta drivers and have since installed the current 460m drivers.

My problem is this. CPU-z and GPU-z both show the video card as the correct card and the GPU clock as 675mhz, the memory clock as 625mhz and the shader clock as 1350mhz. These are stock settings as I have researched it but when I run a game or furmark, the GPU-z sensors only show the card reach a max of GPU clock = 202.5, memory = 162.0 and shader = 405.0 and the temperature maxes at 46.0C. The idle performance is GPU = 50.6, memory = 67.5 and shader = 101.

I can't fathom why I can't seem to get any performance out of this card. It is as if it is being throttled but has nothing to do with overheating or overclocking. I am tempted to overclock this graphics board but I need to get good performance out of it first. If anything, it is stable because it is either idle to maxed at those low settings. Bellow are imaged of GPU-z to help describe my problem.

Please help me. I have this better board and I am getting lower performance than I the card I replaced. Thank you.

Did you check whether you have enabled stealth mode by mistake, it happens!

Very good point, I should have mentioned that. I read on another thread about stealth mode and I toggled it a few times and checked Alienware Command Center until I was sure that it was off. Unfortunately, even with Stealth Mode confirmed as being off, my results are the same.

A couple of things to do

make sure you are in high performance power, use nvidia inspector along with gpu-z(use render test) to see if your card is performing at all p-states, and also try and force full stock clocks. Also what CPU do you own? Sometime a good old power drain helps, also you have bought a bad card.....

I had placed and made sure that my PC is in High Performance mode and my CPU = I7 Q720. I checked Nvidia Inspector and found that the pstate on idle was p12, when I tried to play Diablo 3 it went to p8 and stayed. The voltage never budged from .830V which is odd because it should have plenty of power. I will try and force the clocks and report back. I am either having a voltage issue or a card issue. This is odd becauses it appears to work but I am not getting results out of gaming.

Does anyone know why I would not be getting the voltage I need for this video card or how I could increase it to the appropriate .950V in the bios? I don't really want to use RivaTuner to try and force it to perform.

You can try that. Also make sure you have it connected all the time and if necessary just get rid of the stealth mode. I'm pretty sure there is an app here on the forums.

I appreciate everyone's help. I decided that It must be the board I ordered, so I found one in the USA and it works fine. The only difference ins that the gpu clock is 570. I think this must be a original model. I am considering upgrading the vbios to get the better performance. Let me know what you think.
