hello guys, first of all im a newbie for this AW stuff and my english is bad.

i want to ask if you guys can please help me to upgrade my M15x notebook GPU card (i got it from my cousins in law)
my gtx 260m just die or idk why suddenly black screen when i was playing game a month before, i can hear the game sound when it happen. so i try to restart the pc by pressing long power button and there is when the real trouble begin. It showing some text but not properly writen (like broken text) and after that i try to restart again and the screen goes black also my scroll and caps start flashing. I cant even Boot to POST BIOS, not even a splash alien logo showing. Only black and flashing. i try every option in this forum is suggesting (like remove the battery, hold down the power button for 30 sec to drain the power, Pressing D + power button, unplug one by one the RAM and try to start it)

so i think maybe my gpu is broken, then i bought this GTX460m from ebay for $50 and try to install it (as the GTX 460m officialy released by dell) and some people saying it plug and play but need to be the latest Bios Version Installed (A09). The last time i check that my Bios Version is A05.

So now after plug my Gtx 460m, im stuck with the black screen, 1 Long Beeps and 2 short beeps, Flashing Scroll and Caps. This frustating me to hell. I still can hear the fan for about 5sec after pressing the power button.

edit : Finally solved myself, put the gtx 260 on the oven with aluminium foil, got the trick from some guy in forum post. after bringing back my gtx 260 alive :

press power button for 1 minute with battery and adapter unpluged - unplug cmos for 30 minute - plug it back - press power button for 1 minute again - place the battery - connect the adaptor - turn it on, and voila.

but the text on the dos mode when i try to upgrade the bios is broken, so i youtube it and follow the instruction (pretending that screen is okay).

    i7-740qm 1.8Ghz
    hdd 500gb
dead Gtx 260m (upgraded to gtx 460m)
    4Gb 1333 RAM

    thank. you

    thanks for the reply,
i cant upgrade my bios, since the screen is black, cant even go to boot menu. the only thing i got is black screen, 1 long beep and 2 short beep, and flashing scroll and caps.

i do try inserting cd-r with Bios File inside it, but still nothing.

1 long and 2 short means bad video. can you put the old card in to see if it works?

could be worse. i have a 980m that i just bought off ebay that makes the laptop not even try to POST. put my 770m back in and all is happy.

If you do buy a new GPU, get a 8950M/M6100
