Will this work on M15x? and will i get 1600 out of it or it still clocks down to 1333.

I'm just aiming for 8gb. I don't need 16gb as I don't do much multi tasking and graphics work.

Or I just go for the normal 8gb (Kingston, Corsair) without HyperX. Does HyperX improve on gaming? I'm not so sure.

 

no it will clock down to 1333 just get regular 8 gig kit

 

i see, are there any brands that you specifically recommened for a normal 8gb kit?

 

i have always liked gskill, im not to fond of kingston i have had 2 DOA, and my corsair 16gb work good. but i still prefer gskill.

Actually I7-920XM WILL work on 1600 speed. Because Extreme I7 1-st gen work with 1600. At least I am 95% sure.

 

i have only heard of a couple of user that have claimed to oc thru modded bios and or using set fsb. but as far as i know the 920xm is only 1066/1333

 

do you know it from where?

 

Intel® Core? i7-920XM Processor Extreme Edition (8M Cache, 2.00 GHz) 920xm specs from intel, i have never personally trying using 1600 so i cant say for certain that it wont work. Even it first gen i core 7 do support the 1600 it still dont mean that the m15x itself will run at 1600 unless i missed that thur a bios update

 

LMAO. I was going to write a sarcasm in my previous post asking you if you heard it from Intel web site It also says that "Max Memory Size is 8 GB" .

If OP will do what I say, we will know for sure if it works with 1600 RAM.

 

lol yeah i get that but that was before 8gb modules were developed, anyway just look thru some newegg reviews, m15x user never got them to work at 1600

 

at that time laptops with 4 ram slots already existed.

I also your G.Skill. Excellent ram. Hopefully I can find 16GB of the same stuff in the future.

I am also pretty sure the M15x will downclock 1600mhz or higher mem to 1333mhz. If not on the chip the motherboard will downclock it. I would have to double check the HM55 chipset limits again.

 

ah, then don't worry about testing then, i'm quite happy with the performance already.

I was going to help you reflash your old 1333RAM to 1600 for free. Which should increase performance as well. And it would be the best "I told you" for people who don't believe me
