looking for a little help off my m15x brothers and sisters!!

my internet connection has been shocking the last few days and my ISP assures me everything is fine on my end

can you guys tell me a couple of things to check?

i ran spybot a few days ago and i dont know if its a coincidence that my connection has slowed right down/stopped since using that...maybe i removed something i shouldnt have

can anyone talk me through things to check?

it is really slow loading pages, but sometimes when i click refresh it comes up right away...and i cant do speed checks as it just flat-out refuses to download anything

    thanks

HAve you tried to an internet speed test? Google "internet speed test" and you should be able to run the test of upload and download speed. Be the first place I would start, then I would install/reinstall ethernet/wifi drivers.

A couple of things that come to mind... Driver update? You could look into what kind of wifi card you have and try reinstalling it. Also, if you're worried about viruses, you can use Malwarebytes too (malwarebytes.org). The free version is pretty good.

Try this. No download involved. Speakeasy - Speed Test

Alternatively, restore to a point preceding your spybot scan(s)/removal process.

Here's a really nice resource for everyone:
    Measurement Lab Tools
It'll help you test your connection in a number of ways.

Now that you have a way to test, try connecting your laptop directly to the router with an ethernet cable. If the connections is fast there, you have a wireless problem.

If it is a wireless problem, see if it works in the same room as the router. You may want to consider changing channels. Also some cordless phones can interfere with AG connections.

    Good luck,

    Joe
