Yeah, take a look at the screenshot, also he says he replaced the card:
    Still, way too expensive.

I wouldn't pay that much for that laptop. Don't get me wrong I love the laptop, just not worth it at that price.

Will this fit in M15x. Which MXM port we have in our laptop?

My question is does the gtx 580m fit in this laptop. Because I really like that card and it looks powerful. Plus, what else fits in the laptop since I know that Alienware's are very flexible. Would a 6990m fit in it.

The cards that you can put into the M15x are gtx 460m, amd 5850, gtx 560m, amd 6970m, and amd 6990m (in order of performance level).

As for the gtx 580m, yes it will fit. **BUT** it hasn't been tested, so no confirmation of whether it works or not. You could always be the guinea pig :p

This is quite an old story now.. 560 in M15x.. Works great. Some of the folks around here have done that successfully. As far as the performance boost is concerned its almost 45-50% in comparison to Gtx 260M.

OMG I am too hyped. I am planning on just buying like a whole new barebone alienware case and then just adding the parts in. I want to have one for school

Or you can get a very low spec'ed M15x, you'll have more chance than finding it barebones.
Keep the unused parts for troubleshooting, just in case or sell them.

Yeah.. buy the used one, just saw a few off them going a bit cheap on ebay. They'll be upgraded nicely, kinda plug n play :).. and keep old parts in case something breaks down.. like I am in a similar situation and cant even find a graphic card to check if my mobos fried or wat.. but anyway I have already sent it for the repair.
