Hi, it's been a while since i posted, but i have a question on throttlestop.

I have 260m, i7 720, Bios A09, up my voltage to 1V, overclocked my card using afterburner (640/1600/1000), graphic driver to the latest beta 257.27

The question is do i need throttlestop? and if yes, what options should i check or uncheck. I'm still confused reading through the throttlestop thread.

Here's the screenshot of what is shown:

Thanks in advance. Sorry for being a noobie

Check Clock Mod and Chipset Clock Mod. As well as turbo. For your CPU it's not that needed but sometimes the Clock Mod options help performance. Most people here use it just to keep an eye out on temps etc regardless of what CPU they have.

Make a logfile while gaming. Actually you shouldn't need throttlestop with your system and BIOS. Or do you experience throttling issues?

Thanks for the answer guys. Does it count for throttling if some random times, usually after 20 minutes of playing, the game freezes for 2-3 seconds and it's back. Usually occurs in big explosions.

Framerate drops during big explosions is something you have to expect, especially with a 260m.
Throttling is more severe. It will slow down the GPU and / or CPU for a certain period of time and then speed up again. This will happen periodically, you can't miss it in case you have such issues... I really don't think it's a problem with your system.
To be sure you can make a GPU-Z and Throttlestop logfile during the next gaming session (and uncheck "clock modulation" and "chipset clock mod" in throttlestop before starting the logging) and load it up here.

then is throttling means that the clock just suddenly changes to around the stealth mode for some time and resets back a while later ? If that's the case then it happens quite a few times when i play Heroes of newerth. It says like the graphic stops responding and has recovered.

Throttling is when your CPU and/or GPU downclocks itself periodically.

That's not caused by throttling, that's simply the GPU driver crashing. In case this happens with other driver versions as well you might have a dying video card... I had this issue with my 260m and the only thing that solved it was a replacement GPU (well actually the replacement died as well after a short while.... and since Dell didn't want to replace it again I upgraded to the 5850 and never had this problem since then....)

You said you're using the latest beta... try going back to the last official version and see whether it happens with this as well.

Remember that ThrottleStop affects only the CPU; it has no direct effect upon the GPU. Another reason for the driver timeout you are experiencing is overly aggressive GPU overclocking. I don't have a 260M, so I don't know what the normal o/c'ing range is (understanding that cards vary). Reduce the o/c and see whether that eliminates or reduces the driver faulting. As svl7 points out, what you are experiencing is crashing, not throttling.

Good point with the overclock Rev, completely forgot about that... Probably because I had some bad experience with this card.

@Hel20eS: If you want to be 100% sure about throttling post some log files.

alright, that make it much clearer, thanks guys, really appreciate it. Oh by the way it's not throttling in my case. Check the log files and it's normal. I'm going to lower down my oc a bit.
