I recently updated to Catalyst display driver 12.4 and have lag issues in SC2 and major issues with DotA 2 (menus lag, game is unplayable). Has anyone else experienced similar problems? What should I do to fix this (I can't seem to find older drivers, so if the solution is reverting to older ones, where can I get one?_

    Thanks,

    VishKapish

    Hi Vishkapish,

    Try this:

    1. Uninstall the AMD driver (Catalyst Control Center) from the control panel. Re Boot the system.
    2. Run driver sweeper to get rid of any files left in the registry. Driver sweeper will look like this:

2.1 Check the box that says "AMD Display".
    2.2 Click "Analyse"
2.3 When it shows all the files, click "Clean".
    2.4 Re Boot the system.

    3. Download Dell's driver here
    4. Install it.

Test the computer and let me know how it goes.

I would recommend the 11.7 drivers for your gou over the 12.4 driver. I tried 12.4 and got repeated bsods and reverted back to 11.7 which is very stable for the 5850m. Follow the steps to install the driver from the above post.

    Natalia,

I tried what you said and am still having the same issues. When I checked what version catalyst display I had installed, it showed up as 12.4, which is strange since the file on the Dell website was uploaded on 9/20/2010. But, I uninstalled everything again, ran Driver Sweeper, and tried to install a 11.7 version, but there wasn't any option to install a display driver in the list. For the 11.7 driver, I downloaded this and also changed the WorkaroundInstall from false to true in the InstallManager.cfg file. What should I do next?

    Thanks

Try uninstalling again, run driver sweeper on safe mode and then delete any ATI or ATI technologies forlders located in C:>Program Files and C:>Program Files (x86).

Type "regedit" in the start menu. Once inside the registry editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE, right click and delete the ATI and ATI technologies folders.

    Reinstall the driver.

I followed your instructions and am still having the same issues. Should I try to install an 11.7 driver?

Yes, try that. If that doesn't work, try a system restore back to when the system was working fine.

I know this is really simple, but make sure stealth is indeed off. Have you tried the 11.7 mobility drivers from the amd site? I got it from there with no issues.

Reverting to the 11.7 drivers worked. Turns out that the first driver I downloaded wasn't a mobility driver (somehow I forgot to check). So I just got another and that worked well.
