When ever i have turned on my laptop, it has gotten to the log in screen, however, one here, i can neither move my touchpad or type with my keyboard.

The lights are on that illuminate the touchpad and keyboard, and when in diagnostic menus i can use them both fine.

Any advise on what i Should try to do? I would rather not have to Send my laptop in to be repaired, if at all possible (I am willing to accept that i might have to)

This may sound stupid but, have you tried restarting the computer?

If you havent had success with the power drain (unplugged and battery removed) trick,
before you pack it up I think you should consider/ do a rebuild. It really sounds like a bad factory blast onto the hard drive / bad sector.
You could reformat and reinstall in about 3 hours and be back in action.

First, its not that difficult. Second, do not use Command Center driver from the supplied drivers disk. Use: Drivers & Downloads for your drivers.
Third, the best AW information, to look over is this link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m15x/488201-new-m15x-owner-information-43.html
There is a lot of experience, in these forums, of people that have rebuilt their machines, self included.

do you know if you lost input (dead keyboard and mouse) or is the system completely crashed?

what happens if you press Tab repeatedly in the login screen, in order to place the cursor in different places?

I know the keyboard and touchpad still work, because when i hit F12 and do stuff in there i can use the touchpad and keyboard.

Also, tab doesn't work, but what is weird is i can use Function + F5 or F4 to change the screen brightness.

    Which i find weird.

Also power drain didn't work D=

Did you try using an external keyboard/mouse? I had the same issue once with the trackpad not working regardless of position, however, the keyboard was fine for me. I was able to tab over to my profile hit enter then password then enter and I was in...as long as USB was fine the above method could work
