    Just ordered my M15x (hell yes!) and anyway just have a qucik question. I've read in some palces that formatting ur comp can screw up the keyboard lights. So is it alright if I format my comp as soon as i receive it?

    Darth, welcome to the forums. The issue is installing an old version of Command Center 'over' a new one. That killed my motherboard along with dozens of other members (keyboard lights).
    So, Advice; open the box, play with the new laptop, load it up then (if) rebuild it after a week. You have a 21 day full replacement warranty with new Alienware, from invoice/ shipping date.
    Always get your drivers from support.dell.com, not the driver disk they provide, its old. Of course the Windows7 (disk) they provide is what you want to keep track of. -hubs-

    Wattos post : http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m15x/488201-new-m15x-owner-information-26.html is very helpful.

    yup, i recommend downloading all the latest drivers from dells website, putting them on a disk if you're inclined and using that instead of the resource disk.

    it's an old version of alienware command center which is the problem, in sort... always download the command center from the website and you'll be ok.

    i think the command center can also auto update, which means it's a good idea to download it each time you need it.

    and gratz on your new system btw :D

    You are going to be amazed at how big this thing is

    My lenovo is a 15" and it seems like half the size of the m15x

    yup, may have some trouble fitting into some 15" cases and definitely a problem getting into sleeves.

    the good thing is however, the screen has this illusion that it's larger than 15" and ... as you already know, looks absolutely gorgeous.

    I'm well aware of how large the laptop is, but in all honesty it doesn't bother me one bit. It is going to be carried around a lot but I'm used to carrying all sorts of heavy objects around, for me its all about performance.

    I couldn't agree with the above statement.

    M15x = 17' laptop size
