    Hello,

I posted this as a reaction, but maybe better if i open a new thread.

My laptop is overheating and that causes lag in games and such.

I have Nvidia gtx 260m graphic card. I cleaned my vans and laptop with air, there was some dust. But after it, it didnt get any better.
I also recorded the temp of my pc.

In chilling mode (not running anything) it was 61 degrees. When playing games, after 15 - 20 min the temp goes up to 91 degrees. I am kinda worried, cause this laptop costed me a fortune, lol.

I did some research, but can anyone tell if updating BIOS will get me any further. Did update my Graphiccard tho.

Adding +1 for the same problem

In rare cases, the thermal compound on your CPU/GPU might have expired or run out. You might wanna purchase and apply thermal paste on both CPU and GPU. Google how to do it or have someone you know with experience do it for you. Not sure about the M15x but some laptops are prone to overheating, in this case, you won't be able to do anything about it, you just have to keep a fan on it when you use it and make sure you are in a well ventilated area with your laptop resting on a flat, hard surface such as a table. Some laptops with the fans located under them can sometimes cover the air passage of the fans when placed on soft surfaces such as beds or couches. It may also be your hard disk that is overheating. I suggest downloading SpeedFan or other software that reads temperature of specific components in order to detect which specific component might be overheating. Another thing to consider is the battery which could be defective and is therefore emitting too much heat. Updating your BIOS can help, especially when the fan does not turn on or run at full blast when it has to..I suggest updating your BIOS as well as other components regularly as improvements are constantly being made. The lagging you are experiencing is due to the overheating of the motherboard and other components. This may damage the motherboard and chips over time if not dealt with.

    Hope this helps. Cheers. :)

When changing the thermail paste check inaps signature, he has a great guide.

If you dont know who inap is, just open any thread in here and he most likely will have posted.

Yeah just grab inaps guide and respaste the GPU. I had a similar problem with overheating but since I applied new paste the temp dropped a lot. I didn't even use decent paste (can't get it here) and it worked wonders. It is the most likely solution. Try it and if it doesn't work then its something more sinister, in which case you'll have to wait for advice from some of the more clued up users round here.

I think it is strange to already change the paste.
Got this laptop for 8 months now, isnt it a little bit early?

I've had mine for a year and I haven't needed to apply paste at all..It's more of a case 2 case basis, some laptops didn't have the paste applied properly, some laptops just get hot more often which leads to having to replace paste.

Have you considered cleaning up the fan? Mine used to be lagging and get high temp, after i cleaned up the fans and vents, I had just unleashed a beast of a machine.

    Definitely not. Go for it.

Best way to protect your machine (and not need the warranty) is to repaste.
