I recently upgraded my m15x with the 920xm and gtx 970m and I was comparing my score to a few that I have seen on the forums and my score is at least 1000 points lower than some.

Any answers or comments would be greatly appreciated.

    btw 358.50 drivers

Are you using svl7's custom vbios?

No I am not... I've never flashed a vbios before.
Running pretty much stock oh and on Windows 10. Got this little beast back in 2011 thought it was due for upgrades.

You really need to flash svl7's vbios if you want to get full 3d clocks. Otherwise you've got a crippled gtx 970m.
Have you also done the centre-pin mod on your power brick, to stop throttling?

Trying to get 5 post on TI to download attachments. No I have the 240 Watt PSU I thought it alone was enough didn't know I have to remove the pin.

Yes, even with the 240W PSU you still need to remove the centre pin to stop throttling. You can also purchase a right angle L adapter and pull the pin from that so you can still use the 240W psu to charge battery.
Removing the centre means it won't charge the battery but I haven't had the battery attached for about a year.

T ¦ I is a cool place, very helpful people and really good instructions on how to flash. Have you found the right thread relating to the gtx 970M?

First compare the screen resolution used on the other models you are comparing your score to. If the exact same model is run with a lower screen resolution, it will yield a higher score.

Interesting... Thought that the newer bios compensates for the 240w psu automatically. I'll have to check if I'm running mine crippled.

Found out my problem was running throttlestop and trying to game. Wasn't enough juice to to do both. Could either run throttlestop and restrict gpu to p1 or game without TS and actually reach p0. My 90 degree angle adapter came in today and I am not pleased. Found one on eBay brand called pwr+ removed the center pin and actually have worse performance! Did I do something wrong? I just wiggled the center pin until it snapped off. With adapter gpu stays in p5 p8 states.

I bought that same adapter, but I haven't been able to test it since I'm out of the country for a few months. I'll see if I can a 3d mark test.

I don't use TS at all since I've been on win10. I don't even know how it works lol.

I have the similar issue with you.

I was running TS and gaming, and found that GPU is not working at full clock speed but ~900mhz. But the Temp of GPU is pretty stable under 80. I have the 240W PSU btw.
Then I found out the "central pin" trick and got myself the angle-connector. After plug-in the connector, I am able to run TS and GPU at full speed all together. But the GPU got too hot when it run at 1035mhz all the time, and after play GTA5 for like 20mins, it reached 85 degree and the throttle happened. I have flashed slv bios.
