I have realized that my graphics card is poor, and I am in the process of upgrading it. However, for the past month I have been slowly realizing that my games have been running slower, much slower than they did before on the same settings, and I just can't find out what might be causing this.

I used to play TF2 at around 50 fps, and now it's down to about 20 fps on the same settings. Dragon age: origins used to be played at around 65 fps, and now is down to about 15.5 fps on the same settings. It happens with all of my games, some worse than others.

I have been running McAfee Antivirus and every time I run an updated full scan, it says there are no virus's. I run Ccleaner once a week. I know for a fact that stealth mode is off. I keep really good care of my computer, and i have never overclocked. I am switching my GPU, but I really want to get to the root of this problem and what is causing it. My m15x is barely 4 months old.

Check your bios setup and make sure turbo mode is enabled. If so, you should get Throttlestop and check clock settings. What is your configuration?

We'll see if we can help.

Turbo mode is enabled, and nothing has been changed in the bios since I got the computer, like I said, no overclock or anything. And my clock settings our on auto. I have an i7 1.73ghz, an ati mobility radeon 5730 (i know it's weak, but that doesn't explain why my performance has DROPPED), 4gb ram, 350 gb hdd, 1920x1080 monitor, windows 7 home.

    check your temps
use hwinfo and keep the sensor page open. replicate the lag result and then check your sensors max column.

have u just cleaned the vents anytime?

maybe its just because the heat causes throttling
best thing is you open the backplate und look if the vents are dusty and clean them

Okay, well it seems that after updating my antivirus, everything has gone back to normal, but that just doesn't make a lot of sense to me? Maybe it was something else I did.

Regardless, if it happens again, I will the things you all have mentioned. Thanks for the help.
