Yesterday I installed Skype and tried to set my camera and mic up to work with the program but unfortunantly Skype was unable to detect my mic or cam which I found to be odd since in the Recording devices tab, the computer puts up three devices which are:
    Microphone
    Microphone Array
    And the Rec. Playback
After that, I went into Device Manager to try and find the camera but the only thing that I came across in imaging devices was facap, fastacess video capture which I learned was a device used for an Alienware Program so I disabled it. My question is: Do I need to call Dell and have them send a tech to fix the problem? Or am I not doing something right, do I need to setup something? Activate something? Thanks.
Also, this is a 2 month old laptop thats refurbished. Specs in my signature below.
One more question: Since I hardly use the battery, I took it out and just have it charging the whole time. Is that bad? Are they're any cons?

    *EDIT*
Instead of asking in another thread: I have these programs on startup and wanted to know which of these I could disable:
AlienFX Controller (Do I really need this on startup, can't I launch this program through command center?)
    FATrayAlert (Whats this?)
    FAStartup
SysTrayApp (A program from IDT I believe?)

Might or might not be the issue. I noticed after setting up the facial recognition for login that it affected my other programs I use with the camera. Try disabling the Alien..whateverthename... and then trying it out.

Facap is already disabled but no luck.

*NOTE* I heard that battery life will not significantly improve or worsen if I have the battery charging the whole time is that true? Is it better to remove the battery from the laptop and put it somewhere safe like I already did?

While it's true that you shouldn't be "charging" it 100% of the time as it will degrade the battery, you can have it plugged in, just make sure to use the FN + F2 function to disable charging to the battery :D

Thank you. Now if anyone can tell me which programs I can disable upon startup that would be great. Also, what about the cam and mic? =/
