    Hi,

After importing a lots of music cds to itune from my DVD drive, it started making some noise.

Since then, there is a "growling" coming from where the dvd drive is placed. It sounds like a rotation sound if like it was misplaced or hiting on something.

anyone have any idea how to repair that?

    Tnks.

Could be some dirt or dust has got inside the drive or drive could be about to fail.

My suggestion would be to buy an external dvd drive and replace your possibly faulty drive with another HDD in an optical bay caddy.

If this is dust or dirt, is there an easy way to clean that up?

Also, I don't think the drive is about to fail because it's been like that for a while. I just never bother to ask and got used to it.

But I find it very anoying now, It's like there is a background noise as soon as I start my laptop even if there is no disk in the drive.

And it's going on forever. Like an old camera rotation sound (kind of).

I think it might be something that's loose and need tightening up. I just don't know what to look for.

    Tnks.

It could also be that some software is trying to access the drive and causing that. Have you tried in safe mode?

I thought it was the DVD drive but it seems its actually the fans spinning slowly.

Is it normal that they spin 100% of the time at a very slow pace? And is it normal that is make a noise like previously mentioned? Is there a way to fix that?

    Thanks.
