i dont no if anyone has this problem but I was just running some gpu test on my M15x(i7 model) and i had noticed that in hwininfo32 says that the fans never go above 30% utilisation and it says that the fans only get to 399 rpm which seems very low to me can anyone shed some light on this. I have posted a pic from hwininfo32 and the log. and no its not in stealth mode

its common most of the apps out there reports 30% when in actuality they do work at 100%.

What are your ears telling you?
One of the best, yet imprecise but portable, fan speed detector I know about.

Look at the AW M15x EC section at GPU1, which shows maximum fan speed at 4,500rpm +/-. Your GPU fan is working. Something on the M15x mobo prevents utility programs from being able to read or calculate the % fan speed. You can hide the GPU fan data in the ATI On-die section (both of which are useless) by right clicking on each and selecting hide.

I was thinking the same, thanks revelator. I've never had an app yet that measures or manages the fan speed.

Would be nice ;) In some situations I don't mind if the cpu gpu get a bit hotter to keep the noise down! when working in an office for example - and in other situations would love to max the fans when noise isn't an issue just to make sure the stuff stays cool! like working in a club for instance.

That's not something most people would need of course, but it anyone knows of any kind of custom utility to control the M15x fans, please pm me!

    I do not get it.

The M15x fan speed is already under control. They are already maxed when needed and if you really need a low noise scenario you can turn on the energy saver option.

Why do you want another program to adjust fan speed? It is either to max them when it is not needed or to reduce them when they need to be maxed out...which is problably a bad idea.

What I mean is - I might be rendering and the fans run at full - which keeps the CPU at around 60-70 but for example I wouldn't mind if the cpu was at 70-80 if the fans were running slower. Because the noise is an issue in some cases (like working in a relatively quiet office for example).

    I'm a geek, what can I say :)
