    Hey guys

So I got this new faulty M15X and I suspected it was a dead GPU when I purchased it. However, I plug the AC in and when I press the power button, absolutely nothing happens, and I mean NOTHING - not even lights flashing or fans spooling up. The blue ring on AC plug stays on so I assume there is no short circuit? Also, battery is fully charged and if I run it off the battery, again, nothing.

Also, I have transplanted the CPU and GPU from this faulty machine into my working M15X and they are both fine so it is not the CPU or GPU. I have done all the power drains and CMOS battery reset and nothing. Removed, then reseated RAM, nothing. Disconnected Keyboard, LCD, WiFi, DVDDrive, HDD and nothing! Transplanted the power button board from my working M15X thinking that its not sending a signal and again, nothing! It just doesnt show any sign of life and I'm frustrated as the laptop is nebula red and in immaculate condition!!!

Would anyone have any suggestions? Fried mainboard?

    Much appreciated!

Hey there, sounds to me you are having the a similar problem I'm facing right now. I had planned to sell off my old M15x and the night before I was going to ship him off he commits suicide.(over dramatic :p) sounds like this M15x has done the same.

Now let me know how many of these symptoms sound familiar:

*when you plug the ac adapter in does the alienware head start to glow?
*can you boot it up off the battery? If so, what are the battery levels? is it charging?
if this is the case, then you don't have a fried board but rather a damaged dc jack and that might just need to be replaced. This is a $5-20 fix plus soldering. (Currently this is my problem and I'll let you know if it fixes mine)
*do you hear any noise when you try to boot up?
*does anything come up on the screen and/or do you hear a post buzz or even see the lcds flash?

I seen your other thread ezio, they both sound like dead motherboards. A replacement board is the way to go, I would not have the boards "fixed" as they will just change the board themselves and charge you a high price. They do have the boards on ebay for $200~, that would be your best bet. Good luck getting them fixed, I hate to see a broken M15x :(

Hey man thanks for the reply but I'm pretty sure my issue is different to yours mainly because it does absolutely nothing even when I try powering it off a fully charged battery (2 different batteries charged by my other working M15X)!

    Nope! =(

Doesn't boot off either of the fully charged batteries =(

No noise, nothing happens at all!
    Absolutely nothing =(

Well I'm pretty sure the mainboard pooped itself =( bloody tragic!

I think that the issue must be related to the motherboard itself since you have tested everything that there is to test. If you would like to get pricing info you can let us know by sending an e-mail to [email protected]

Hey mate, what is the IC of Power? Is that a chip on the motherboard? If so, I have access to motherboard technicians and can get it fixed cheap if I point them in the right direction (to avoid diagnostics). Thanks

Sorry for the late reply ... i was bussy

    Yes i think ... but i'm not sure .. because i didn't see it

but as he told me if there is a short circuit ... maybe one of these things will damage ( motherboard - GPU - RAM ) for me the GPU damaged :(

    Can anyone confirm that !!!!!!!
