After gotten the M15x not for long, already went through 2 motherboard replacement, 1 touchpad, 1 GPU and the io board :( . it seems like things are finally running stable. the only problem i had is that out of 10 turn on of the laptop, there would be one when the fan speed runs on FULL SPEED even after loaded into windows. i had to shut down windows and then turned it back on to fix it. i already searched the forum and it appears that a lot are having this problem. Please post how often do you run into this non-stop full fan speed problem.

    TIA

thx Inap_3 for the response and nice icon and slogan :D. my current bios is A05, what bios are you on. after two motherboard replacement, the problem is still there. unless i am extremely unlucky, chance of being motherboard's fault is pretty minimal. so it has come to only the bios. 1 out of 10 start up with the fan staying at full blow is sure annoying.

I'm on a05 also. I heard others reporting the glitch to but haven't seen it myself. I don't think it a motherboard issue since you got it replace twice already, maybe try to reset you bios. If you take out the bottom cover you will see a small round black thingy, yes that the technical term for it, lol. Just unplug the little connector and reconnect it after a minute or so. See of that helps.

Mine came with A05 from the factory and I haven't had this issue either.

Def sound like a mobo/BIOS issue.

Was it both CPU and GPU fans that would run full blast?

I have the problem too. About 1 time every 15 "turn on". I had it with bios A01 and with A05.

With A01, sometimes the fans go down when W7 is loaded. It only happens once with A05 and as far as I remember, I put the PC to sleep then I woke it up and it did the trick.

Despite an issue with the power supply (another "known bug") which is not related to this I think, I do not have any other issue with my M15x. In fact, it is working like a charm. Let's hope it will continue that way ;)

I have this issue too. Both the GPU and de CPU fan start running at full speed. Even if i restart my computer they continue running. I have to shut it down and they start running in "normal mode". I noticed this Issue about 5-7 times in about 1 month plus 1 week, starting the computer about 2-3 times per day.

I am experiencing the same problem but my case is only with the GPU fans they run at full speed and if u put your and behind the laptop you can feel the breeze blowing cold only from the GPU fan while the CPU is quiet after running like that for couple of mintues tho it goes to normal but it can take 5-10 min with Windows 7 loaded and then it quiets down. I too like Blaifu have to shut the system down compeletely in order to fix this problem if i dont feel like waiting for the fans to settle down in windows its so annoying and it start happening once i had my GPU changed with the 5870 because i had the GTX 260M and i was expereincing horrible throttling and once i had it exchanged with the 5870 this problem occured ... dunno why? Plseas if anyone knows. I am guessing its a driver issue maybe because its the GPU i dont know i've been having so many problems with this system ... i spend 3K on this system and i am really not happy with the way it operates i already had my PSU exchanged once my GPU 2 times and the screen has one stuck pixel that i cant get rid of i tried everything and now this fan issue ... system i wouldve been better with a Macbook

This is plaguing my system as well! A week or two ago it seemed like it was happening every 4th or 5th start up now its not as prevalent. Everytime a full shutdown has been required. I occasionally bring my M15x to University to work essays or w/e and am dreading the day it does this in the quiet study rooms haha. Lately I just start it at home or in my car than put it to sleep until i'm ready to use it. I have the newest bios and everything (as far as i know )

I had the same issue after running Civ 5 for a few hours but found if I let the system idle for around 5 minutes before shutting off the fan turns on as normal. Before I would shut computer after directly after gaming which would cause the GPU to still read hot. Havent had the problem since I started letting system sit for awhile before shutting down.

    Still annoying though.

I just had this problem for the first time. Was running Mass Effect 2 for several hours prior to shutdown. I think maybe the M15x 'remembered' the temps prior to shut down and needed several minutes to figure out it was cooler.

I would say I get it 1/8 times I turn on the laptop. I used to restart to solve it, but lately I just let the fans run on full, and they go back to normal after 5-10 mins.

Hmm; I've had this happen to me a small handful of times as well; Fan boots up at 100% then stays at that till you reboot the machine.

Quite, Quite annoying! Im on the A07 Bios.. I think ( could be A05)

I would say 1/8 times sounds about right. I dont know what the issue is, but its most likely a BIOS bug.

I am running BIOS A08. I originally had the fan replaced because I thought that was the cause of the issue, but it wasnt.

I get this from time to time, no need to restart, just go on with whatever you do and it should stop after a couple of minutes.
It's a bit annoying sometimes but it doesn't really bug me.

I restart about once or twice per month - when new Cats come out or when windows update needs a restart. This was the first time it happened to me.

I've never had the problem, mine is A08 BIOS. You should try stealthmode upon encountering the problem.

I get this problem probably like once a week. Noticed it only happens on a cold overnight start after serious long hour gaming sessions.

It's like a turbo on a car, when the car turns off the turbo stays running a little until everything cools.

Only problem is that the fans kick in a little bit to late on this laptop. Maybe a whole day to late -___-

Make sure you're cleaning your fans/radiators with some compressed air every now and then. If you're diligent enough I'd say do it once a week at least. You'd be shocked how much dust ends up in there.

Well, on my M1210 and M11x, the dust stops building up after 2months or so (solid cakes :p)!!

Then again, I vaccumm my house every week, so I don't know what's up with that :(

But yeah, I agree, dust it out at least once a month. Buying an air compressor is a good investment (no more than 50usd). Air cans start getting expensive after the first year or so.

    nope, that won't work.

Everyone says "it wont go away until I restart", but has anyone actually let them run on full to see if they go back to normal?

Thats' what I do, and it takes about 10 min.

Its unnecessary use on the fans, but its only 10 mins (this machines are made to sustain 4-6 hours long gaming sesions, right?)

This happens from time to time with my M15x as well. Quite annoying. That being said, I simply don't let my laptop boot into Windows when this happens. The fan test on post happens literally a second or two after powering on the laptop. If the fan continues to run versus that couple second burst I simply hit the power button again powering down the laptop. I then wait a couple seconds for the laptop to be fully powered off, then power it back on again. At least for me, 99.9% of the time when powering the laptop back on the fans give me that quick burst only, they don't continue to run full on after the fan test on post.

Happened to mine yesterday, latest bios in use, happened after a full shutdown and then left for a few days.
