Hello friends. I'm having some fun refurbishing my old laptops. I just finished my M11X and I moved on to the M15X.

I installed a 970m and 16gb of ram while I was waiting for my processor to arrive. Long story short I messed around with the clock speed, in small amounts. Just to get a base benchmark and to see how much heat it would make. I raised it slowly until I got a temp increase on the GPU only 1 degree. Then I ran the benchmark again. When I did that I got a green screen and a hard failure. Booted it back up and boom no screen. So I said "that's life" (I know the risks involved), and ordered a new MB and GPU. I fresh installed windows 10 and the new parts.

After turning it on it's not showing the BIOS alien head on the LCD. However it will show on the VGA and Panel output. Using both 970m gpu's the one I thought was fried and the new one I get the same thing. Panel and VGA work fine nothing on the laptop's monitor.

I grabbed another refurbished MB and dropped in the old 260m. I still get no Bios but the screen populates windows at the login screen.

    Any Ideas? Thanks in advance!

I found another thread that had a similar issue. It looks like they fixed it with an different BIOS. I found one but it is in a .rom format. How do you use that type of file to flash the bios?

The most recent bios I know of is A09 - that one was very stable. Here is a link to it on the Dell Alienware site: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/alienware-m15x/drivers . Be careful about flashing any bios of undetermined provenance - it's a good way to brick your motherboard.
    Good luck,

    Joe
