Hey everyone, as title suggests I have bought a 330W adapter and returned my 240W adapter thinking that I would get no issues. The only thing is, where my 240W adapter after removing the L shaped adapter would charge my battery...the 330W adapter does NOT charge my battery. I have to use the older 150W one to charge my battery. I think it's a bit foolish to carry 2x bricks to play and charge my M15x. Should I return the 330W and re-purchase the 240W? Is there anything I can do to have the 330W charge my battery? Thank's in advance.

I carry both chargers. If you don't have any throttle issues with the 240w then go for it. I ran into throttle issues.

What kind of throttle issues? How can I replicate it? I didn't notice any when I was using the 240W adapter. Maybe If I can see how yours was throttled, I can see why. The 330W adapter was more money and does not charge my battery. I would prefer to use the 240W and keep the 150W as a backup. I just don't want throttling issues, but it's best for you to tell me how yours was throttled. Thanks in advance.

To be fair. The 240W shouldn't give you any throttle at all. I use the 210W and courtesy of my cpu volt mod pull more power than you guys. I don't have any throttle.

The 240W also won't cut out like the 330W at 240W instead it will continue pulling upwards towards 280W and above if you are lucky without issues so long as it is not too hot.

However the build quality isn't very good. The older 210W and 230W are not slim PSU's they are the same size as the 330W and they are built to last. My 240W burnt out after just 1 year.

I would say use 150W to charge. Then I would recommend the 230W or 210W for ultimate combination of power delivery and reliability. 330W unless modded to pull id line low (a complicated mod for non technical people) is at the bottom of the list. Top of list if modded as it would then be capable of delivering over 400W's!

I think my case is unique. It shouldn't max out a 240w but for some reason when i had mine plugged in with the 240 it would throttle. No idea why.

It means your 240W is dying. My adaptors also started to play up and cause throttle regardless of what I did. Changing adaptor sorted things.

If I were you I would chuck the 240W. Then get an old school 230W. It will deliver more power than the 330W unmodded and be more reliable than the 240W slimline.

Yeah, I am returning the 330W PSU and I ordered the 230W PSU. It seems like it would be the best fit for me. I am investing all this $ on a machine this powerful, I don't want to go el cheapo on the PSU. I want this mama to last as long as it can go!

Indeed just remember you do still need the 150w handy for charging! If you don't like it being bulky there a new 150w slimline that is really small. 210w does not charge battery. I guess the same for the 230w.

You may be the first with a 230w here. Please let us know how it goes. When my 210w burns up I want one lol

The 330W is definitely the best choice for pushing the M15x. Just sayin'.

Which mod did you carry out svl7? I think some tech savvy people here could succeed. I can't lol can't even solder lol.

That may be true, but it does not charge my machine. I would hate to carry both adapters. BUT, if I can get past the 240W limitation easily...I think I can make due with it. I didnt ship the 330W yet. I'm waiting to get the 230W in the mail. Like King asked, how hard is it to mod the 330W? Do you have to soldier it? If so, so you think a hardware store or an electric store would help me with soldering it? How difficult is the install? Thanks.

You have to solder, but it's super easy.
No PSU will charge your M15x besides the original one, unless you do a bit more complicated mod.

Do you have a link to a guide to the mod handy? I have a 330w psu at home I would like to put to good use!

Not true both 240w and 330w unmodded can charge the m15x battery. With pins intact of course.

Okay, well on the last day of the possible estimated delivery, I get the PA-19 adapter (230W) and the barrel is too big to fit the jack....yeah. So since I returned the old adapter, I only have the 150W adapter. :/ I have to order a new adapter.

Ahh sheet! I am sorry I advised you to get it :(. The barrel won't even plug into the laptop? I doubt the 230W will charge anyway like the 210W so you won't need the adaptor!

It is slightly too big. I think it may go in with strong force, but I don't feel like damaging the adapter plug or my DC jack to see if I'm feeling lucky lol. I already ordered another adapter, just waiting for it to come in.It's completely fine though, at least we know the 230W adapters wont work on an M15x lmao!

Well that sucks! So 210W is only old school one to work :( I wonder if it is possible to force it gently into the cheap adaptor thingy lol. Oh well good to know man!! Thanks for finding out for us!!

It's the same thing on the little adapter. I tried it as soon as it didn't fit on the laptop lol. I ordered the 210W one because I wanted something more solid. It is no problem and it's better to know know then let someone else buy it and find out haha.
