I'm creating this post because im really broken and i'm sure other people who spent grands on products like this feel the same.

I have been here for a while and saw each in every thread about all the problems that m15x has. everyday new problems around the globe.

first.. Why ? Why all these problems ? Why i didn't face these problems on my 1/3 priced laptop ? I had Acer and HP for quite a long, around 3 years i guess. They still run without any problems. But why just alienware ? That's why DELL shutdown m15x because of too much bugs and problems ?

Yea you can say they are not gaming laptops and not every laptop is best and 100% perfect. True, i agree. But the m15x comes with silly problems everyday and new threads and a fix for that.

Again, If DELL not cared about m15x.. why it's in the market for sale ?

Believe it or not.. DELL has the worst support ever. I wouldn't say i had best experience with other brands such as Sony, HP. But compared to them, Dell sucks.

you have to take that, gamers. We all know Alienware is well known for the build quality, design, performance.

But i don't see any performance unless you tweak it for your games. Some games lag. some don't.

Sorry, But i love alienware and their products. But seems like **THIS** m15x version from their lab is just a piece of crap which was released as code name alpha.

As a consumer/gamer.. spending over a grand for gaming laptop i would expect atleast to run most of the games in high settings.

But seems like for this price i would rather build my own tower beast with SLI graphics.

m15x owners are free to share their views and comments. I'm happy to hear their experiences with m15x as well.

PN: I'm sorry if i sounded a bit bad. But i feel like i have wasted my savings on this and should've waited for 17or18R3

dude its a laptop its not suppose to run all games on max... if u want a computer to do that build a desktop, my "lower" speced desktop can run everything i throw at it. i5 2500k with a 460gtx in it 4gb ram and raid 0 cost like 600-700 watercooled also...

its just because its a laptop dude, dont dish on it just because it cant run max on all games.

my m15x is currently a bit on the hot side, which i need to fix right now... thats my only complaint but im using a 5870 which isnt suppose to be in this anyways

Running Games is not only problem mate... I know its just a laptop. It's not about all alienware products. Its about the particular model m15x.

But, i want to hear others view on spending over a grand for these spec. Don't you think its a bit over and you can build same spec for lower price in desktop ?

still this doesn't mean that i totally hate my alienware. I love it. Only because it has nvidia, i7 and the design forever. But everyday i face some kind of problem, which everyone else faced here. That's why i created a thread to know more about their experiences with m15x.

PN: have you every thought for a second.. "S*** i made a mistake on choosing m15x instead of 14 or 17x ?"

One more question, So even if you spend around 3k for m18x you cannot play all games in high settings ? If so, Because its just a laptop ?

well i only paid 760 for mine from dell... and i just bought the 5870m ... so i spent 960... so.... im not complaining. but you gotta understand the chasis itself is very strong...no other laptop that i have owned has felt this good and the cooling system is way better than any laptop ive seen. i mean hell. look at how much macbooks cost... then u spec a comparable alienware... its expensive yes... but alienware will mop the floor for prolly a fraction of the price.

True i agree with your statement. One of the best reason that pushed me to buy alienware is the design. The solid Aluminum Chassis. still i love the looks. But i feel a bit bad on performance wise.

The only good stuff that makes me happy right now is... it doesn't get heat much. maybe because its just 1-2 months old ? whatever.. that high legs at back is superb for the hot air to go away.

high legs? i guess u got the 9cell battery which has the higher back, the 6 cell is flush. the laptop itself is great i mean if u bought the m17x instead u couldve gotten a rgb full led and a crossfire setup... but thats all up to u

Wait, are you saying Alienwares are expensive and you can get a desktop with the same specs for less? No way! Next you'll say that the sky is blue or water is wet!

What exactly is your problem with your computer?

Lots of problems... all of em, what people have already experienced here. Which is why im worried now. Should've known this forum before buying. *tears*

And yes, I could build a better tower for the price i paid for this. But i hate towers thats how alienware grabbed my eyes.

Ofcourse, even tower bring some problems. I'm not arguing i need a 100% fat free, problem free machine.

This is just share your experiences ( good, bad, great stuffs ) with m15x thread and about why m15x stopped.

First off the chassis is magnesium not aluminum
second I don't want a desktop, i cant exactly pull it out of its neat little case on the airplane and play some crysis on it can I?
Things have problems, life has problems. You have to overcome those problems to understand how things work, I have learned so much about my computer here .
Name one other model that you can easily swap out parts, just by taking the back plate off?
And your saying you want the 14x with a card that's soldered into the motherboard. go for it.

as of everything else dell has honored my warranty in a country that the m15 is just about as rare as a cheetah here. Amazing service, amazing machine. I will never regret owning such an amazing piece of now history.

my mx15 has been great since day1.

I managed to fry the motherboard shortly after receiving it (never using that socket again!) and service from dell was brilliant. sent engineer round next day and replaced both motherboard and graphics card covered by warranty.

    no complaints here.

Ya I've had no real day to day problems with my M15x. In the first few months my graphics card got fried and was quickly and effectively replaced by a competent tech within a few days. Only problem I have is occasionally starting it up the fans stay on full blast and I have to restart it, no big deal. Also sometimes instead of outputting sound through HDMI it'll stay on the built-in speakers buts that also easily remedied. I don't regret my $1900 purchase at all.

Like someone else said, of course a desktop is gonna be cheaper for the same specs, but try bringing that to school or moving it around the house. Lately some of my friends have gotten new computers for university and when I read there specs i'm still happy to see my Alienware puts there computers to shame. Haha even my friends new iMac looks weak by comparison, and it is a desktop.

the first 3 months i had this lappy i was regretting ever looking into alienware(mostly due to support issues) i was actually looking at getting a lenovo before i got this aw. im well over 2000+ now on this laptop and looking to spend more in the near future. i dont really have any paining issues with it, im actually very happy with its performance. ati work great for me, i alway look forward to cleaning and repasting, working on it is quite relaxing. so im building a tower next for my brother, and maybe for christmas getting my self a m18x fully loaded...... :D
    on credit of course lol

it is because i need a machine that i can carry out why i don't spend it on desktop?because i already got one sandy bridge +sli system which can handle any games on highest settings but i cant bring my desktop out, that's the problem,of coz M17R2 or M18's performance can outrun most of mid-range desktops.but consider the price, games i will be playing on my laptop. I choose M15x, most of the performance demand beast will be playing on my desktop, only MMORPG will be playing on my laptop, so i don't need that kinda spec, also after replace the 5870m with a 6970m,M15 can handle all of the online games, its enough for me

I'm a new M15 owner but gotta say that the extra $200ish I paid for this over my Toshiba from a few years back was well worth it nevermind the hardware side. This is almost like comparing a cheap (by price not manufacture) Asian car to a more moderately priced German car. The fit and finish is top notch, it does it's jobs quite well which for me is play the occasional game and browse the intertubez.

Sure I could beat the outta my desktop for days on end but after a number of years of getting it's kicked it finally dumped on me. If this beast lasts me 5 years I'll be very happy. If anything once my warranty is up and if I decide not to extend it I might pull the trigger on the 1080p screen for fun. Then again dropping the $10 for the display port to HDMI cable would be a better investment.

there is no point to get back under the bridge when you're not sure if its safer there. I'm here, reading all your experiences with m15x. I should say.. i'm getting better after reading all your experiences with this beast. I will be upgrading some RAM and HDD to SSD in couple of weeks. So, i hope it will be a minotaur ? lol or maybe a real beast.

My real issue with my beast is.. its getting slow, slow load ups, slow boot, games lag, bluetooth was not working after restarting/turning on, hear the loud fan noise sometimes and it never goes back to normal speed till i restart.. sofar this much.

yes yes yes, i turned off stealth mode. still no luck.

Going to do a complete @$$ wipe after getting my SSD and will see how fast it moves up.

Thanks for everyone who shared their views and comments/experiences about this m15x. I really appreciate you guys for taking some time for me.

    Have a nice day!

    Cheers!

Don't sh*t on the versatility of the M15x. Just look at the kind of upgrades that some of the guys here have managed... You should be smiling out your tail and starting a thread thanking folks for showing you the true potential of this ferocious machine. Bum!!

how long have you had the system for? have you used CCleaner? Spyware? are you on high performance? have you got a virus? you need to do alot to troubleshoot things.

I hope everything works out, the M15x isn't a beast but a god among other gods.

I have noticed one thing on me that i cured myself xD PARANOID. When you buy a cheap one, you think is is supposed to work that way and when you buy expensive one, you expect thing to pop out instantly and you will notice even the slightest lag that may have occurred on the cheaper one but you dont take notice of it. AW M15x is the best i ever got and this babe (i named it Nisha 1.0) never failed me. Long live M15x!

I have M15X for over an year and in beginning i had a lot of problems. That was 4 hell of months for me. Customer support was great and they fixed (Mobo, GPU, Optical drive, speakers) everything in short time for FREE! Now its work flawless and I can still play games at high settings ( expect Witcher 2 ), some of them with ~30fps but it is not big deal for me.

    the m15x is great.
only thing that sucks is stealth mode.

do i ever regret, never... only wish i could have afforded the m17x in sli at the time. still can't and don't care, cause this is one blazing fast laptop.

comparing it to desktops is ridiculous. you pay a premium for portability, always have and always will.

you also pay a premium for technical support, use it. if you still have issues that are unsolved and don't use the technical support which you paid for, there's no point in complaining.
at the very least, tell us your problems you have with the laptop. we have many knowledgeable people here and chances are someone will have a solution for you.
