    Hey all,

I'm wanting to do a clean install of my OS on my M15x as I'm sick of the mess and Windows Explorer has been randomly quitting on me, just wondering if the fact that I have 16GB RAM in there could bugger up the process in regards that it exceeds the recommended maximum RAM (8GB)?

I can't imagine it doing anything out of the ordinary....

    Cheers. :)

Don't see why it should matter at all. Ram doesn't require drivers or anything of that sort anyway. You know it works already so it will work without an OS too.

Yeah, I figured it would be okay.

Now for the "fun" file archiving and backup process... -.-" Approx 10 hours...

    Thanks. :)

I have 16GB in my M15x and its been solid as a rock for months.

Windows bypasses the BIOS with regards to RAM anyway so it really doesn't make any difference.

Did you run a 12 hour test on those 8GB sticks after you got them?

Yeah, I remember talking to you on the thread about the RAM upgrades.

Sure did, it passed just fine. Had them for like 3+ months without a single issue.

Out of interest - what would you use to do a 12 hour test on installed RAM?
