Alright, so i built a psu adapter mod inside of a right angle adapter. I got sick of my 230w HP adapter not charging my m15x. I built a 330w mod for my m17x r2 when I had it, and this is exactly the same idea. (look at tech inferno or google if you want info on this.)
So, when I use the adapter the bios reads the psu as a 150w, as it should, but now the laptop is software limiting the power consumption and throttling the laptop under load.
I noticed @Swick1981 built a bios for the m18x that solves the gpu limitations within the m18x and startd thinking this is probably just a bios power restrction. Maybe someone like this could build a bios that would eliminate the power throttling of the laptop.
So I have an m15x w i7 920xm and 675m working perfectly without throttling on the 230w adapter. sometimes I have to toggle stealth mode but after I do it works perfectly. When I place my adapter mod on the 230w PSU the battery starts to charge and all is well until I fire up a game and throttling begins immediately. If I remove the adapter again and toggle stealth mode all is well again, but I lose charging. I'm hoping someone can offer some insight and maybe a bios I can try to bypass the power restricting when using an "authentic 150w charger".

Sorry I cant get the image to flip right side up lol. I took R116 and IC101 and soldered them to a ebay pcb to make the mod. This was my uneducated schematic I used to decipher what parts of the circuit I actually needed to complete the mod.

Please help, I've now surpassed my knowledge level!

Yeah, a BIOS mod is needed. Sorry, but I can't help you. BTW can you tell me where you got that board? Thanks.

Sorry havent been on for a bit. got the ic board off ebay. I cant remember the name of the ic chip but if you can find that its easy to find from there.
My temp solution is to use the adapter when the battery needs charged and remove it to play games. so far its much better than carrying the 150w and 230w adapters at the same time.

Small update for anyone who reads this through for advice. I bought a 4gb clevo 965m just to try in the m15x and so far its the best card I have put in the machine! No weird green screen issues and NO THROTTLING!!!! Its fantastic. I don't even have to use the aftermarket power supply setup. Even my 210w with 150w id chip mod power supply doesn't throttle! now I can game and charge my battery at the same time! I highly recommend this upgrade! Performance is on par with 7970m and 680m and 30-40% less power consumption.
