For a few years I never really moved my M15x around. It sat under a desk, was hooked up to a monitor/keyboard/mouse etc and pretty much just acted like a desktop. Recently I started traveling with it, and I noticed this problem happening after I try and start it up after a complete shutdown.

Here is the video of the booting issues. Shut it down at home, traveled to work, tried turning it on about 1 hour later.

As you can see it finally starts up, and im currently typing this message on it.

Occasionally, itll do what happens in the video, but itll stay stuck on loading Windows. Ill force shut it off, remove battery, hold power button, and usually that fixes the problem.

Any ideas what part(s) are going bad and need to be replaced?

The only upgrades I've made to the laptop within the last 2 years are putting new 8gb of ram in it, and also upgrade to windows 8.

Hi im new in the forum but i had the same issue as you in my m15x. The problem was my CPU i changed from i7-740 to i5-460 and puff that happen too. FIx was remove the cpu and plug again with new thermal paste and after that i press the power button for 30 seconds with no PSU or battery. After that it runs fine withe no issue. If that not helps try a different CPU.
