How do i go about decreasing my idle temp for my CPU. Currently it sits idle at ~53C and loads at 68C. I know the load is not that bad but at idle, 53 is a bit high for having a chilled room temp of 19C. I recently just cleaned out my fans and also repasted with top of the line thermal compound. This brought the idle down to 51 and load to 65, not that great. However, now while gaming, my computer will not crash. Still, i feel as if it is on the verge. My GPU temp never goes about 55 so I'm not concerned with that. Also, I only feel air coming out of the CPU fan which is weird since my GPU is the one that is cooled and its fan does not seem to be blowing air out. Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

You are a little vague about your temps.

When you say load do you mean 100% load using Prime 95 as a test? If yes then 65C for 100% heavy load is not bad at all. The idle wouldmatter not in this case. They are a little high though. In the same ambient temp I get a good 10C lower on my 920xm at idle.

Also the GPU you say it never goes above 55C is this also after an intensive gaming session or not?

Please check your vents and report back.

    Thanks for prompt response.

I just got had a blue screen of death experience after playing League of Legends for about 15 minutes. Starting in safe mode, I found the error to be:

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 116
    BCP1: FFFFFA8008C3E010
    BCP2: FFFFF880061F6ADC
    BCP3: FFFFFFFFC000009A
    BCP4: 0000000000000004
    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\021313-24741-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Eppley\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-89185-0.sysdata.xml

Right before I crashed, I checked the temps. CPU was 64, GPU was 61.
Although the GPU got above 55 this time, I can hardly believe heat caused the crash with numbers like that.

    Thank you for your input.

According to the bug check error code 116 the BSOD could be produce by the video driver and not the temperatures which actually are normal, I suggest you to uninstall the video driver and perform a clean installation selecting the custom option, also here are some hints to diagnose your system.

Remember to install and run driver sweeper to clean up any and all driver remnants after you have uninstalled your existing drivers before installed the newest drivers.

Thank you guys both for your input. After unistalling, sweeping, and reinstalling video driver... the problem has ceased to exist. This issue has been solved.

    Thank you,
    Ryan

Or maybe i spoke too soon...

After playing a few games of League of Legends, my computer froze on a screen and the audio looped. No response from the computer and had to do hard restart.

Not a BSoD but still a similar problem. Seems as if the fresh drivers did something to fix a problem but not totally.

65C is still pretty low to be considered overheating. Have you tried updating the BIOS to the latest version available?
