I currently Have an m15x laptop. Current specs are i7 [email protected]. 4 gigs of ram. 64 bit os. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730. Within the last 2 weeks I have sense changed the thermal paste and cleaned all the vans/vents inside the computer. I currently have the laptop on an cheap zalman single fan laptop cooler. is there anything else I can do to help keep the laptop cool? I normally only play wow on max settings and when I'm in a raid my fans come on full speed and the chasis gets really hot to the touch. Anything else I can do? thank you for your time and help

Guessing you don't have the 9 cell battery. Prop the back up in the middle with a cd case or something; that will make a big difference.

check back your repasting, might have bubbles in it. I repasted mine 2 weeks ago, and found that blowing out the dust clearly does help. My temps remail 45 C ~ CPU and GPU. On max CPU 70 C, GPU goes to 80 C (Play SC2 on high). It only gets warm around the palmrest area. Below near the front is the hdd, that gets pretty how sometimes.

Edit: One way to feel if the vent is really clear is, turn the fan to max manually and see if the air really blasts out. I notice my CPU side was not blasting so i rechecked and found it still had dust. To show how the dust was in the GPU side (and probably the CPU side is like that as well):

*Dunno why the image not showing, right click the image and open it in new tab.

@Indiran how do you get the software to manually adjust the fans? Can you provide me the software and link? Thanks :)

You can use Sapphire TriXX, there is a manual fan option and it's really easy to use.

I personally use HWinfo but its a little hard.

    HWiNFO64 Download

Download the portable one and double click to run it.
Make sure you check the sensor-only checkbox.

    It will look like this:

Click the red circled button shown in the image on the top and it will show you a box like below:

Then slide the slider to the speed of the fan you want. I tested mine to 5000, is good enough to bring it spinning fast. Then click set manual as circled red in the above picture.

After you are done, make sure you click back system auto or the fan will be running all the time.

*Note: Use only CPU and GPU1. GPU2 is of no use. It will take some time for the fans to take effect due to the cycle delay. Just make sure u set it back to system auto after that. Do this at your own risk and I am not responsible for anything that might happen to your system.

By the way thats my idle cpu and gpu temps on the first image.
