    Hi guys I just bought a M15x with a GeForce GT 240M, I wanted to upgrade it in the future, I've googled and can't find any shops that sell graphics cards for this (don't want to buy from dell as I would upgrade it myself) please help :eek:

    They are not hard to come by.. Dell sells them, and afaik dell will give you warranty when you install it yourself, as long as you dont mess up while doing so.
    Just ask to make sure that it will be covered when you order it

    Dell usually won't give you warranty when you install the card yourself... correct me if this doesn't apply to the U.S.
    Over here you have to give them your service tag otherwise they won't sell you anything and if you don't pay the Dell technician and only buy the card your warranty is void.

    And to order parts that aren't supposed to be in your system can be quite hard, at least I wasn't successful at it... I called several times. Maybe I had just bad luck or the system in Europe works a bit differenty than in the states.

    320 is less than half of what the 6970 is selling for so that's not a bad deal at all. What are folks scoring with the 460m on Vantage and 3dmark11?

    I doubt a 6970 would work in a m15x and if it did I doubt the bios would properly run the fan controller well thus you would be prone to overheating.

    Darkloki -- If you look a few threads down, INAP already proved the card works in the m15x. Several folks are ordering them now.

    Yeah but wouldn't all of this increase the potential of throttling? I mean the system with a 260m already showed signs of throttling increasing your GPU specifications wouldn't help towards lowering that risk I wouldn't think.

    I mean the original system that the 6970 was designed for comes with a massive 200+ PSU the m15x is no where close to that right?

    The GTX 260m throttling was solved with A08 bios. The ATi cards haven't had throttling issues as far as I know. I know the 6970m is different but we shall see in due course.

    @varun nahar

    $610 im assuming the 460m is a rip off

    I went with the 5850 for its overclockability and it costs me only $300

    You have to haggle them correctly like a car-salesman
