    Hey guys,

Although I have asked this question long time ago, I wanna know whats the possible upgrade of ram for the M15x ?

Im currently using the 2x2GB 1333 ram i guess ? however i found my system sometimes may consume up to 3+ GB ram thus wanting an upgrade.

Is there any recommendations that I should go for ? I dont mind upgrading to a faster rams.

any recommendations guys ? Thanks lot !!

Like many others, I upgraded to 8GB (2x4GB) of 1333MHz DDR3 some time ago. It's quick, easy and cheap (about $50). 8GB is the maximum for the M15x. Some examples: Newegg.com - Laptop Memory, Laptop RAM. As you know, you want 204-pin SO-DIMMs.

yup .. unfortunately 8GB (2x4) size and speed of 1333Mhz is the max that our M15x can take

i just went with kingston .. i doubt there is any major difference between brands

1600MHz ram will work, i.e., function, but it will operate at 1333MHz.

Is that 8GB limit set by dell via the BIOS firmware? I was under the impression that our hardware could support much more than 8gb if it is not limited by firmware.

I ran tests with M15x both under W7 x86 and x64 systems with 8GB Ram and guess what : the x86 set the better score in 3dmarkvantage compared to x64 (x86 uses less Ram by design than x64) - so only 8 GB Ram and M15x ?? - it might seem a low number these days but that's just marketing terms. sell sell sell :D

hey guys i have enconutered one problem.
Actually i just found out i have a 2GB and a 4GB ram installed in the system and somehow it failed to reconigze the 2GB ram i guess coz it showed only 4GB from the system.

Then i try to remove them and install them properly again. I restart my comp and had a blue screen says system error and did the physical dumping thing.

after restarting the comp again it showed 4GB ram only. So i suspect something wrong with the 2GB ram ?

    please help guys

    Brian

try booting with only the 2gb piece of ram ... if that doesnt work, then you know its faulty ...

if it manages to boot, do a memory test. you can do one using windows 7 built in memory diagnostic or download memtest86

then do the same thing with only the 4gb piece of ram ...

OR .. you could just do the test with the 4gb to make sure its working, then get another 4gb piece to upgrade to 8gb ;-)
