I have a friend's M15x that hasn't been used in a few days after going on a vacation for the weekend. When he came back and turned it on, it began to boot up then freeze at the alien head. After some observation, F2 and F12 are not responsive and none of the lights are on either. There are also 11 beeps as it starts up before it freezes. I'm currently looking into what motherboard it's made with so I can check what the beeps could mean, but if anyone can help before I find anything, it would be appreciated.

I should add, there is in a CD or DVD in the drive, unable to be ejected. I'm not sure what it is, but it may have caused the problem as well.

Just tried that and I'm still getting the 11 beeps with no lights or F2/12 response. I'm not sure if the beeping is coming from the motherboard itself or the slot drive, as it's associated in the same area. I'd like to get the CD/DVD out of the drive so I can see if that might be the problem, but with no power to the eject button I'm unable to do that.

    1. Switch off the laptop removed and reconnect battery on MB

    2. Press the power button to switch it on.
    3. Instantly after pressing the power button, start pressing ” F2 ” key on the keyboard to enter the BIOS setting.
    4. Now press/touch the ” eject button ” of the DVD drive and now you are done, you will get the disc out.

with out power you can try.

hold the laptop with DVD drive facing down and gently pat on the backside or top of the laptop to make the disc come out ! But this will not work in all situation and even this method is quite dangerous for laptop.

    Make a tool

try a playing card w/ double stick tape on one side -
stick it in the slot, carefully wiggle it around a bit to "grab" the disk,

The F2 method isn't an option for me. F2/12 are unresponsive the second I push them and the screen locks after that. As for the DVD, I can see if that works and hopefully it starts up from there. I'll edit the post in 10-15 minutes or so with the results.

I'm currently having trouble trying to pop the disc off the spindle (if there is one) to get it out. I manage to get the card passed the front block/trigger and placed on the disc, but from there I'm at a complete loss on how to unhook it and get it out.

I'm still have some trouble getting the disc out. Not matter how many times I get the double-sided tape stuck to the disc, it refuses to come out.
