I still have 80 days left on my m15x's warranty, however, knowing that I'm going to using it every day for at least the next year or so, I figured I should extend the warranty for piece of mind (already know the power jack could be a problem with as much as I'm using it)

Right now I have the XPS Technical Support (covers hardware), complete care (covers accidents) and next business day (saves sending it into the Depot)

Anyways, just got off the phone and got quoted for $360 plus a $75 gift card for exactly what I have now extended a year. This was after she did the fake ...let me talk to my supervisor (aka let me put you on hold for 10 min then check the screen to see what the best we can do is :p) thing.

I didn't want to pull back a 2 month old thread on this, however, looking at the prices people quoted over there it sounds like I'm getting ripped off. (especially having 80 days left, not 4) Of course nobody mentioned complete care in that thread which is why I need you input. I told her I'd think about it over the weekend, knowing I could always call another rep and try again. Does $360 sound reasonable for 1 year or too high?

i recommend calling multiple reps when buying anything from dell. once you get a price call back to another rep and see what they can do. patients is the key to success here.

Thanks, inap for your great tip. I have a question regarding your tip, if you do not mind.

    1. These Dell Sales Agents should be connected via same ordering network. Won't the system suspect that you are some kind of nuisance that may not really sincere in buying warranty extension? After all, why all of a sudden are there many callers asking about the warranty extension about the same Alienware laptop?

    2. Should I provide my name each time I have the conversation on the phone with each sales agent?

I suspect that if I try to gather the pricing, I may be suspected as a troublemaker and the call line system will disconnect my call. And, they may not want to deal with me any more.

they do keep records of the call. but it doesn't affect the level of service they gave you. i bought many things from dell and i never buy from the first rep, always haggle, some reps are willing to gave you a better deal just to get a sell. just tell them you got quoted for $xxx then ask if they can beat it. when the r3 was release i called prolly over a dozen reps, hehehe

I got a 3 year premium warranty service extension for $510 and a $75 gift card. From what you guys are posting on this thread, I think I got a pretty good deal.
