Hi guys, little help with this.

Why is it that my 5.1s occasionally have the base and center speakers *not working* like my system detects them but when I use the windows 7 speaker configuration tests, they don't work.

Sample - I play world of warcraft and rotate camera, the sounds rotate from left/right/rear left/rear right but the center part always gets silent. Then one time, it works, then another time it doesn't again.

One thing though, it definitly works all the time when I turn on the *Treat all speakers as 2.1* set up or according to creative, the UPMIX mode.

Win7 64 - audio and video drivers- all drivers even- are updated. not so sure on the board drivers but I have all of dell's latest and more that I could find outside of dell's site.

    TIA :)

Seems like your not the only one. I am not a fan of the m15x sound drivers at all, or the actual sound they produce.

Buy the Creative Labs SB X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB at TigerDirect.ca

Seems like a cool buy and I think it would fix that sound issue instantly.

Also ive had alot of issues with my seinheisser 350's and the sound drivers for the m15x. I seriously think usb soundcard is the way to go lol. No matter how I config these drivers they just..suck.

Have you changed the sound settings in windows in the control panel?

@greatass, one more thing, I just tried to uninstall the drivers, now reinstalled and for some !@#$ reason, it doens't produce any sound at all. lol. it says it works accdg to windows but no it doesn't work at all.

@widezu69, yes sir I have, even on the IDT audio application. it's really a hit or miss thing for me on this.

Yeah lol, if I install those drivers and plug in my headphones, they will be working great. All of a sudden the sound transfers to my speakers and not my headphones after a short while. Long story short I've learned these drivers suck, and the onboard sound of these laptops suck. It's not just these laptops though, any mobo really. Even my ASUS rampage board has lame onboard sound. I've always heard USB sound cards work well, so for my laptop I think I shall get one :)
