Hope it is okay to post in here, instead of creating a new thread.

But do any of you now if a GTX570M from a MSI laptop will work in a M15X? No other vBIOS needed?

I'm new to this whole benchmarking do dar but would anyone care to comment on this score for a second hand gtx460m and stock i7 - 720?
It runs some visually challenging games on medium settings quite well but I'm just wondering if there is more performance to be had (without overclocking at this stage).
    Thanks

The driver starts to install then fails.

Nvm got it to work, Nvidia drivers, even with the modded inf file kept failing to install.

I had to turn the driver signature check(think that's what it's called) off so I would accept the graphics drivers.

I'm so lost... So confused... I've been trying to get the 560m in my M15x for the last week and feel like ripping out my hair. Where I am now, is no video on screen. I hear it boot all the way up to the login screen, but it doesn't output to either screen
I'm basicly using the rapidshare driver posted earlier (301.42? I'm guessing it.)
Was I supposed to flash the card? Change anything in the BIOS? I do have my (dieing) HD5850 that I can boot with for troubleshooting, but I've gone back and forth too many times...

I think I maybe just need my hand held through the whole re-installation of the card, or I'm just going to give up and throw all my money at something better.

Try hooking up a external display to the VGA or displayport and see if it works.

Also make sure you're running the latest bios A09.

    Also try this

    1. Had dual monitor setup the whole time
    2. Updated to A09 just before installing it
    3. Pretty sure the installer I downloaded from a previous post already had that done
......So I guess I should now assume that the Nvidia installer he uploaded is the problem.

    OK! Now we're getting somewhere.
Assuming the guy's 560M graphics card location information may not have been the same as mine (despite him saying he'd "edited it for our cards" in his post), I just told my Nvidia drivers to look elsewhere for a card when I installed the mod'd drivers.
I'd already tried DriverSweeper getting rid of the drivers, yet I still cant even see my BIOS on startup. How do I remove all traces of Nvidia without reinstalling my OS?

Uninstall the drivers normally using the uninstaller and then if you really wanna make sure there's no trace, use driver sweeper in safe mode and clear the nvidia section. That's all you have to do.

I just bought a 560m online, and I am looking at thermal pads at frozencpu, but what thickness should I get?

fujipoly thermal pads (Someone recommended these, but idk if they are the best)
    Search: fujipoly thermal pads - FrozenCPU.com '

Is thicker better in this case or not?

You need pads of the right thickness, too thick and you will hurt thermal conductivity (more stuff in the way basically), to thin and they wont make good contact.

You wouldn't happen to know where I could find a modded inf for the newest drivers(310.70) would you? I used this method but I'm having problems with the old driver.

have you been able to solve the problem? it's probably late but i recently modded the 310.90 drivers for PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1251&SUBSYS_02A21028 so if you have a similar board let me know. or you can give me your product id, vendor id and board name and i can try to mod it for you.

hi, thanks for trying to help me out. i did mod the drivers and installed them and everything seems fine. however, windows complained about the driver not being signed (you know, that red message box that asks you if you want to install the driver anyway). did that happen to you too? is it something that happens for modded drivers or i'm having some other problem like a virus or something alike?

Yes mine had the same message pop up. I guess its just because it was modded as I have never had it before when installing Nvidia drivers. Mine is running smoothly and a lot cooler than the 260m it replaced.

I bought another card and now when I boot I don't have the three beeps but the system simply shuts down after few seconds with no beep. I reverted to 260M sigh...

Any clue on what to do?

Hi all I'm new on here, I've decided to upgrade my m15x andhave read all this thread before I made my mind up on what gpu I went for. I decided to go with the 560m. I've ordered this one from upgrademonkey on eBay. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=140869105779 Does anybody know if this is a eurocom card like everyone else is using. I'm not sure if it's the same company but changed names.
    Many thanks

Thanks dsmclark that's reassuring I can't wait to get it. What version drivers are you using? I think I'm currently on 306.97 on my gtx 260m. Did you use the method duchess described changing the .inf file?

I'm using the latest drivers 310.90 I think. Upgrade monkey emailed me the instructions on what to modify in the .inf file with the card id or if you send them the card id they can mod it for you. If you like I can email you the modded file I made if you pm me your email.
