Only here's a quick run down of the specs in my m15x.

    I7 720m
    Gt 240m
    Broken DVD rom
    Bios a01
Western digital black 2 ssd plus hdd combo

I think that is all relevant specs needed for this. I have used this drive in multiple system and never had issues with it. The laptop sees it in bios but it after it posts it says operatiting system not found. No matter what I do I can't see it get past this.

My battery is also completely dead and won't hold a charge at all so I can't update my bios. Is there a way around this so I can run a newer bios that may resolve this issue? Or is a bios update pointless for this?

I wouldn't trust a01 bios to be competent. If I was you and I was determined to do what you're trying, I'd find a way to get those bios updated to a09, which means a new battery or research to see if there are any no-battery work arounds to flashing the bios.

But either way the drive should work. Try doing a fresh OS install on the drive. It could be a corrupted OS install as far as your m15x is concerned. All it takes is a simple OS boot file to be in a strange place from the previous machines install.

i resolved the issue, i made a usb windows install stick, installed directly on the computer rather than trying to transfer an OS from a working computer. (using a method ive used countless times and got it to work. sooo... no idea.)
