    Hi guys

Having a strange issue with my laptop. Recently the battery died and wont charge more than 12% (just keep plugged in now) and now my laptop wont seem to shutdown/sleep properly. I usually just close the lid,, at first the lights and fans will go off and the laptop will go down as normal,, but then usually about 5 mins later the lights come on and I will hear in running even tho the lid is still down.

I have experienced fans coming on as well when just browsing ever since I updated to windows 10 but this is new,, although I installed a big windows 10 update just last week so not sure if that has had something to do with it.

Anyone got any ideas on what I could try

    cheers

Shutting the screen is not shutting down. Only sleep

I've had this happen on mine from time to time. Even with a new motherboard and new battery, this has happened. Sometimes it resumes from sleep on its own with the lid closed and upon opening the lid I get no display on the screen. I don't know the reason behind this but I can only guess that it has something to do with either a hardware fault (video card maybe?) or a bug in the BIOS. I have had several different video cards though-and as far as I can remember-this has happened on all of them, so I would wager that it's a BIOS bug. I'm on Win7 and A09 BIOS btw.

I also get the fans running at full blast occasionally on startup which is also probably a BIOS bug and my only option is to do a hard shutdown in that case.

My only advice would be to shut down, remove the battery and power adapter and do a power drain by holding down the power button for around 20 seconds. Also check your BIOS options for any USB devices that can wake the computer up from sleep mode (such as a mouse).

As far as the fans coming on during browsing, this can be normal depending on the content you are browsing. Just monitor your temps and make sure nothing is running too hot.
