    Hey guys,

I've been banging my head over this and the internet has not really been helpful or at least I can't understand it. Can you guys help me? I want to know which card is better ( 680m or 780m) given that I don't want to overclock too much. I'm getting a 920 xm processor so which works better with it?

If you don't want to overclock at all then get the 780M but thermals will be very very high unless you add a cooling mod to your laptop. 680M can be easily undervolted and runs very cool at 1v. It can also be overclocked very high indeed at 1.05v and still have manageable (but not as comfortable) thermals.

If you're going to carry out a cooling mod, or at least get a cooling pad and are happy enough to run the laptop without the bottom cover, then the 780M is the better choice due to better memory bandwidth and more memory.

Thanks a lot! Is it easy to undervolt and then overclock at 1.05v? I have decided not go with the 780m as I do not not want to add a cooling mod, not experienced enough, although I will have to wait for a good while to get a 680m. Thanks again for the help!

I might be selling mine in a month or two, where do you live? Flashing a vbios is required to change the voltage. You need a bootable USB stick that can boot to dos and the programme called nvflash. Its pretty easy, I just follow this guide. https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/1687-guide-nvidia-vbios-flashing/#comment-26051
and download the vbios from here https://www.techinferno.com/index.p...king-editions-modified-clocks-voltage-tweaks/ but you'll need to be a member.

For any recent nvidia card you'll have to modify the driver inf file but I found this excellent guide here null-bin.blogspot.com.es/2015/08/how-to-modify-nvidia-notebook-driver.html
