So my laptop had a broken CD/DVD player, which i replaced (which i might add was a right pain the ) - all seemed well when booted up except the control cover lights were not coming on at all. So i thought maybe i'd not re-seated everything in that area - checked it again still didnt come on, then the power button started having issue's. In that i'd press it when the laptop was completely back togethor and nothing would happen. If i took of the control cover as in the pic, it turns on fine, again i thought i had a reseating issue but cant seem to get it working - has anyone come across this before ? Im waiting on dell to come back to me but thats probably a pointless exxercise anyway :/

Wow.. that's a new one on me. Makes me wonder about the seating too. Maybe somehow when the cover is back on it's not making contact correctly, or the button somehow gets locked down in a depressed mode (like something holding the button down, thus not allowing correct contact to be made when released)?

yeah me to mate, i got sent the wrong dvd drive initially, so ive taken this thing apart like 4 times no drama, just thinking i might have slipped and fuked the control cover some how, every other time i took it apart its been fine, im actually thinking about taking it apart again (to the bare bones - as u have to do to replace a dvd drive!!!!!)just to try and reseat absolutely everything, just in case

it works, but only in the right yoga posistion - my opinion of alienware etc.. has plumeted,

button feels fine in full togethor mode - but no power, wondering if i should go head and just try and reseat everything - any chance i could be shorting thing in regard to the case?
