I have an 3mf8r 580m card that I sold on ebay. I had tested it on my m15x however of course I could not install the driver to fully test it. The buyer said there was distortion when he installed it on his m17x-r3. I have no distortion with the standard windows vga driver however would like to fully test it with furmark. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a modded driver to work with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Too much power draw for it to work on the M15x, i believe its been tried by a few people who eventually stated its a no go.

I know it can boot up from what I have read. I just need to stress test it for 15-20 minutes is all so I can sell it again, if it is good :)

Does the 580M draw more power than the 7970M? Because people have M15x's with 7970M and they're just fine...

I am not sure how much power it draws but the thread at the link below says the issue is "The 580m video bios support 4 P-states(p12,p8,p1 and p0), the m15x only recognizes the first 3 p-states and ignores p0 which is 3d clock". I guess that is the only problem. That is fine for me as long as I can run some light tests to find if the card will artifact under a load. The thread has other people who have it installed and was running BF3 so it should be all good to go with the modded driver/inf file they used just don't know where to get it and no one in the thread is responding to my messages.

Yes, the 580m draws more than the 7970m. They're also not 100% fine, throttling is a real problem, especially if you're doing a CPU + GPU intensive task.
