    Hey Guys

I have an Alienware m15x that I got last august and at that time I could play games like Metro 2033 on high settings with maybe 60FPS indoors, but ever since maybe 5 months ago all my games start lagging and I had to turn stealth mode on then off again to un lag it. I had just updated my BIOS from A08 to A09 hoping that this would cure this, but the problem still persists. I even reinstalled Metro 2033 to compare frame rates since last year and noticed that now I have to toggle stealth mode on and off in order to achieve the same constant frame rate as last year's. I have no viruses as I run scans on a weekly basis and have found no viruses to date. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, and I downloaded the latest version again and selected repair just incase something was wrong with my command center beforehand. Problem's still there.

I have had similar problems. Stealth mode will randomly turn itself on, even with the program that keeps Stealth mode off. It is only on certain games in certain situations though. I have no idea what causes it but its more than likely driver issues.

Clean the touch strip off as well. Sometimes when it gets dirty, it thinks it's being touched.

It's not turning stealth mode off that's the problem. It's that I have to turn it On the Off again just to unlag a game for a few minutes. Then I have to repeat. It's really annoying. And this problem is on every 3d game all the time, even when I'm just walking around in some place. Stealth mode has never actually just turned on by itself.
My GPU temperature is at 65-67 degrees C when surfing the web, but it jumps up to 77 degrees after 15 minutes of gaming.

i have the same problem its not really stealth mode, its that your vid card is not reaching maximum clock speeds. i had gotten into the habit of switching stealth mode on and off every time i turn on the system. but its only the gpu cuz the cpu is fine. ive only had this problem with a09 i was fine with a08. i actually now oc with trixx which forces the clocks so no more probs for me

Ok, I'll try Trixx OC and see how it goes.
    Here:
    M15x
    Intel Core i7 Q 720 @ 1.60 GHz (8CPUs)
    4096MB RAM
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    BIOS ver A09 1.00
    Geforce GTX 260m
Found out that trixx OC is only for AMD radeon cards, so I'll try MSI afterburner for overclocking instead.

your gpu is going to die...

a couple of weeks after i had this issue the gpu totally broke..

Do you guys think it's overheating. I mean, 60 degrees Celsius while idle isn't exactly very cool. I recall that I didn't have any overheating problems at all before flashing to A09. Now I suspect that I might have made the problem worse by updating my BIOS. Back when I had the A08 version of the bios, my only problem was unlagging it. Now if I game for 2 hours or more, my computer shuts off due to overheating.
Also, I tried overclocking, and that seemed to cure my unlagging problem, but now I have to worry about overheating. I found that after playing only 10 minutes, my core a graphic card temperature raised by 10 degrees. Core temps are now around 76 degrees and graphic cards temps are at 65 degrees Celsius. Any advice?

Yeah I do, and I'm planning to use it, but I wanted to see if I could fix the problem myself before I ask for help from DELL service. I still don't understand what's causing the overheating however, but it's been overheating since the BIOS update. Hoping anyone can help me out with that

I think I found the source of the problem. I found out that I'm not using the same charger I got since I recieved my Alienware. My fathers going to bring it when he arrives in this country and I'll try it out then, and see if the overheating subsides. Thank you all for your help!

My temps idle @low 40s and max at about 72, dell wasnt much help for me since they wont even evaluate the.system if ur not on there drivers..... Which i have tried with the same results. i kinda narrowed it down to a09 for me but dont really care to revert doesnt really bother me now
