    Hello,

As a long time viewer of these forums, and seeing how my M15X has finally arrived I just thought I'd drop in to say "hi".

Now my first thoughts after having this laptop for a few hours are "WOW". This machine is someting quite special! Let me start by saying to all the 'would-be' M15X buyers who are on the fence about spending a little extra for this laptop when there are other cheaper options with close too, or even slighty better specs - Just wait until you have it in your hands. This thing is beautiful!! Well worth the extra few pennys imo.

I think AW have done a great job with the build quality, especially considering their last outing with a 15" laptop! Overall it feels very solid and study, the screen is stunning (I went with 1080p / Blu-Ray ROM) the keyboard input when typing is great, no flex either.

Oh and ALIENFX!!... That is all ;)

Now, I can't comment to much on the performance (of my spec at least) until I run a few tests for myself. I will probably speand the next few days stressing the machine just to see if the components are all in working order and monitor my temps before I consider any sort of OC. But... So far so great!

I am looking forward to running a few benchmarks as well. I'll update the relevant thread in the near furture!

    Happy times! :D

    Seph.

EDIT: Can't seem to find the signature option so will list my following specs:

    i5 540 / GTX 460m / 500GB HDD / 1080p / 9-Cell

You don't get the option to send/receive PM's or have a signature line until something like 5-10 posts. Awesome rig by the way, it'll be amazing for gaming.

Welcome aboard... I recommend a SSD when you can afford it. It will truly amp-up your M15x

    Thanks guys.

@U.N - This is my 1st planned upgrade but I think I'll hold out until the G3 intels are about. Should hopefully drop the price of the other SSDs to warrant purchasing a 250gb+ drive.

you have the same proc as me and i find for my needs (gaming) the i5 540 doesn't seem to hinder the performance of the gpu and it seems very fast to me.
I play Sc2, black ops, mass effect 1/2,assassins creed 2,metro 2033 and many others Cant compare it to any other procs though.
Just thought id say as i don't see too many i5 540 owners here. though i am seeing more games recommending quad core cpu's

The way I see it, if you build a pc for gaming get the fastest cpu available to you. i.e in your price range. I was tempted to go for the 620m, another dual core but the extra £100 pound didn't seem like value for money especially when benchs comparing the two where close to the same in the more important variables.

I might upgrade to a 920xm off ebay one day but for now I'm more than happy with my CPU. The lower quad i7s are still good in their own right but I put clock speed before cores at this present time, where gaming is concerned at least.

There does, however, seem to be a be a steady rise of multicore optimised games recently.

I too was thinking of getting a 920xm off ebay but my girlfriend has convinced me to put the money into the savings for when i buy a desktop in about a years time I think the I5 will last that long ^^...I'll probably still get the 920xm anyway actually xD
